Hello!
Where do you find raw nut butter? I don't know if Maranotha's nut butters are really raw, even though it does say raw.
I have found some hemp seed butter, almond butter and tahini in the refridgarater (not sure how to spell that one), and it is probabaly raw. Is there a good place to order it from?
Okay! If I choose to buy a nut butter maker, where would you get that? And good brands?
Create a day of love and light!
Thank you!

Hey! Marantha's are not raw. Much discussion on this, but seems as though their heating process it what makes it now raw, even though it says it is.
My local HFS sells raw nut butters.
So does Maraw (Anna). http://www.therawtable.com/tools1.htm
I have not made any yet, but others have. Do a search for threads on how to.
good luck!
The Good Food Company is where I buy mine from. I think I have seen it at Whole Foods too!

Trader Joe's sells "Raw Almond Butter" as well as "Roasted Almond Butter." I don't know what is involved in the process of the raw type, but it's only like $6 a jar.

WOW! That sounds too good to be true, which it probably isn't true. I would definitely contact Trader Joe's and question that. That is way cheap. Even though Marantha posted on their label "RAW", I think Rawkinlocs contacted them and they explained how they used high heat to process it. There's a thread rolling around here about it.
TJ's selling it for 6 bucks? Doesn't sound quite right. MHO

I just emailed these people about their Better-Than-Roasted nut butters and treats:
http://www.sweetwatermarket.net/
They are dehydrated at 108 degrees but don't know about any other heat during the butter making process...I'll let you know when I hear back from them.
Artisana has awesome almond butter!!
The Whole Grocer used to have it, the coconut butter too, but Whole Foods bought out Whole Grocer in Portland Maine and they don't carry it...Whole Food is buying out Wild Oats in Portland too, which really bums me out...I wan't too impressed with the raw selection at Whole Foods (they just opened 2 weeks ago). The smaller stores seem to have a better raw selection of things instead of just organic all natural stuff.

just checked my email
This is what Jared from Sweetwater Market/Blue Mountain Organics said about Better-Than-Roasted stuff:
"The nut’s do not see temperatures above 108 degrees during any part of the process. We use only whole nuts and seeds. I know you will taste the difference! Please let me know what you think."
I'll have to give them a try!

Make it yourself! The most delicious nut better I have tasted.. came from my making it! If you like your nut butter sweet, forinstance almonds, I grind them in the coffee grinder, then in a bowl I add the almond powder to raw agave nector.. and now I have nice sweet almond butter to put over bananas or flax crackers!! DEEELISIOUS!

Thank you everyone!
I looked at www.therawtable.com, and they have pecan and walnut butter. That would be good to try! I am also looking for almond butter and tahini.
We have a Magic Bullet, is this as good as a coffee grinder? Or as effective?
Whole Food's is buying Wild Oat's here too! I love Whole Food's! I just wonder if they are going to create another Whole Food's or just buy Wild Oat's and let the building sit there. Hmm.
Love to all!

A great source for raw nut butters:
www.livingtreecommunity.com
They make their own in very small batches.

I make my own in my food processor. It turns out better than any that I have bought.
It takes time throughout the day.
I put my almonds or whatever in the fp and then run it for about 3-4 minutes. I stop it and let it cool down for awhile while I go about my other chores and things. Then I come in the kitchen in an hour or two and turn it on again for about 4 minutes. I do this throughout the day until it is smooth and creamy. It lasts me for quite awhile too so I am only making it every 2-3 weeks.
