For some time now my body has been telling me that I need to take a rest from eating solid foods. I have ignored this because I have enjoyed so many recipes touting my new chosen lifestyle of raw. I have been eating mostly (around 95%) raw since March of last year. I lost over 40 pounds give and take some (fluctuating). I have recently actually started to gain weight and don't seem to be eliminating like I should. I have also developed a very severe case of eczema on my arms. I truly believe this is because my body is yearning to go to a higher level of detox but just cannot without a rest. I have therefore decided to embark upon the 92-day juice feast. My mind, body and spirit tells me this is right, yet the old mind tells me things like "you have company coming into town. Your son will be graduating high school in May and you KNOW there will be food you will want to eat! yada yada yada" However, I realize there will always be some excuse why this is not the best time, so, I decided this morning to just DO IT! I just marked my calendar and decided to plunge right in. The thing is, I need you guys so that I can be accountable. If I have to report to you, it will put the pressure on me that will help me to stay the course. If anyone can think of a way that I can be even more accountable, please let me know. I am beginning to be an open book exposing myself so that I can learn and possibly help others on the journey as well.

Here goes:

I am at a starting weight of 250 pounds.
Height 5'5
Goal: Optimal Health, Mental Clarity, Stronger body, Weight loss
Goal: Exercise 1 hour daily (30 min cardio, 30 weight training)
Goal weight: 150 lbs

It is 8:34 a.m.
I started today off with helpful thoughts, meditative emotions, and positiveness. Today I will drink 4 liters of juice which will include leafy greens and coconut water as well as 4 glasses of water. I have the "juice Plus" supplements, but I am not sure I will take them. I will see how it goes.

I had 32 ounces of lemon, apple, pear, ginger juice. I diluted this with equal amounts of water. The juice is a tad bit too sour, so I am sure I need to play with my ratio of lemons versus apples. I will be starting a journal or blog so that I can continue to report how this is coming.

WOW! Good luck with this. You'll be fine. Listen to your body, not that voice inside that is saying how at the graduation there will be foods, etc. Focus on how much better you feel and how much healthier you will become. Keep yourself busy. Vary you juices (sounds like you have). Check back here often.

I'm doing this over the summer - starting at the beginning of June, as soon college breaks for the summer! Have you registered with the website and everything? Well worth doing for the three months apparently, I'm definately going to sign up.

GOOD LUCK!
It's so cool that more and more people want to do this - and you have all of us here for support :)

(edit: Oh - you should definately blog about your experience, if you're looking for more ways to be accountable - I for one would love to read it :))

A juice fast is always a good thing!

Out of curiosity, why 92 days?

It's a plan laid out on www.juicefeasting.com

I've been interested in this too. Right now I'm on the fifth day of a 46 day juice FAST (lent) which I noticed just happened to be exactly half of the 92 day feast. I don't know where I'll be when I reach 46 days but I might decide to turn it into a feast at that point. Hearing Angela Stokes talking about how she was really able slow down and think about her detrimental eating habits (and how it got easier over time!) was really inspiring.

Check out her breaking-the-feast video here:

 I was amazed that they are consuming a gallon of juices a day!!!!!! But I have one question, out of curiousity, why is oil added in the fasting?

I was planning on doing a month or so...but am thinking of doing the longer "92" day...but am curious about the specific program and the reason for that specific length.

I am trying to watch Angelo Stokes video, but I have dial-up and it is taking forever..LOL..

If I do the 92 days the semester will be over when I finish...:D and I will be in prime shape for my summer travels...I am thinking that is a fabulous idea. My finish date would be May 29...which is good.

I am curious about the coconut and the specifics of the program..but I may just put together my own, and do it for the three months..rather than pay the 30.00 a month to register on the juice feasting site..

Best to you all....so exciting, I am sure you will do wonderfully, goyethere4raw :D

I looked on the site...and it does seem to have quite a lot of support literature, video..and who knows what else. I may sign up on it, but since I cannot look freely around on the site until I do, I was wondering if someone who is doing it would let me know if I am , indeed, on the correct site..

http://www.nutrientdensenutrition.com/site.php/arti/main/

and what the program is like, and how it differs from doing the fasting "on your own," say, with the support here on this site..

I love what they say about assembling the wisdom of those who have gone before...and the Joseph Campbell quotes..it seems like it would be very helpful, and , for a day to day support, a dollar a day is not bad...

if anyone has specific info..please, let me know. I am in grad. school and am watching my nickels, literally..lol...(not quite watching the pennies yet...)

:D

Elizabeth -

Have you read Angelas' blog? It goes into the whys and the wherefores a bit, and also talks a bit about the website, programme etc. and explains why it's worth signing up. I emailed her and she told me that you get tons of info for your money. It's $30 per month I think but you can unsubscribe when you're finished. She's brought out a Juice Feasters handbook, I haven't received mine yet but I reckon it's a worthy investment, written by someone who has actually done it.

There's more info here:
http://www.juicefeasting.com/

When do you think you'll do this? I'm beginning mine at the start of June... I'd really like to get a few people starting it at the same time, and have us all supporting each other and exchanging experiences. It's not to be undertaken lightly though, which is why I'm giving myself plenty of time to prepare, mentally, emotionally and physically (plus I'll be on my summer hols from college which always helps :))

Thanks so much for the info. I am on rawreform.com right now watching the video in bits..lol..and will look at the Blog.

I was planning a juice fast, and today was my first day. I am thinking of extending it into the 92 day juice feast. There is really no reason for me not too..and I loved reading about the elementary school teacher who actually had more energy and worked 12-14 hour days while juice-feasting. I am in grad. school and have so much to do..and find that when I juice fast it frees up not only time, but also my mind, from wondering what I will eat and prepare..etc..

I will likely join the site. It does look like a fabulous deal, and I like how there are day-specific readings and inspiration, directions..etc.

I love also that I will be done by the beginning of summer..I want to be able to fully enjoy my summer off from school..:) sounds like a good way to prepare..a nice "spring-cleaning."

i am sure there iwll be plenty of people to share with when you do it in the summer. It says also that there are forums for the juice feast, which is nice..and of course, the wonderful support here..:D

thanks again for the info...

and happy fasting...

Hi! I've been a member here for more than a year, but haven't posted in MONTHS. I couldnt' help posting to you though, because I'm in the same boat as you are- weight and all. -and I'm starting the 92 day juice feast today. How have you been doing on it? I'm excited about it... and looking forward to the abundance of fresh juices! I've heard the first 3 days are tough... and after that it's much much easier.
