Anyone know what to use to make kefir? I tried nut milks and coconut milks and they all separated into half water, with no kefir.

I'm trying to convert my milk grains into water grains. I've tried it with young coconut water, and it turns out fine. Also, for making water kefir soda, you can use raw agave instead of sugar. you shouldn't use honey. I have put in sweetener (for the kefir to eat up), a dash of vanilla, and cut a piece of orange, then let it ferment for 12-24 hours. Or, just sweetener and lemon for lemonade.
But, sorry, I've never tried milk kefir with non-dairy milks. You might just need to add more sweetener to make sure it has something to feed off of.
