I'm bored, the kids are bored, the DH is really bored. OK, actually he's ready to wreck a boat in the yard and call it Gilligan's Island. :D
We've done a lot of cheating lately, mostly out of boredom. I've got to go shopping soon adn I'm going to try to get us back on track, but I don't know what to buy. Not the usual stuff, but threre's really not much else. We're limited in what we can get here, plus food allergies (if I were really clever in the kitchen I'd make an uncook book just for people allergic to nuts). The whole uncooking thing doesn't always work. A lot of times recipes have nuts or they look good but end up tasting yuck. Dehydrated food makes me really thirsty.
We're just in a slump right now. Sorry to whine about it just wondering if anyone else ever goes through this.
Too many nuts- not a good thing. Recipes are great- but not always necessary. Try surrounding yourself with raw foods you enjoy. Your favorite greens and fruits. Raw nori wraps, collards filled with avocado, tomato and other favorites. I haven't been making raw recipes- but when I do, I like to keep it very simple. Make smoothies, eat blueberries, have dates with a smidge of almond butter. If you don't like dehydrated things or tons of nuts- don't eat that. Listen to your body (I know it's said a million time and more- but it's true). Maybe your body needs lighter, cleaner raw foods right now. As far as what to buy- check the beautiful recipes & photos on the forum before you leave for shopping. True raw inspiration. I always get inspired when I'm shopping for food. The produce area is heaven for me. So many lovely colors. I'm lucky too because there are some prepared raw food like crackers, trail mixes, cereals, and other treats). Always good for those lazy days.

If you've gone back and forth with raw, your sense of taste will not have clarity as when you stay raw....it takes time to develop the clear taste of simple foods. Next, if you have food allergies, slowly incorporate raw foods if you have issue with alot of recipes or the taste hasn't developed. Mind you, you can always alter the recipes too to your liking!
Ella gave some great tips and avenues!!!! Even take the SAD versions you eat and develop a raw version out of it or make it raw as much as possible.
Transition to your personal preference. :)

I find presentation makes a difference. I’ve asked a family member if they wanted an apple and had them say, “No thanks.” But when I peel, core, thinly slice, and arrange the same apple in a fan shape on an attractive plate and hand it to them… guess what? They eat it and enjoy doing so. A plain old boring apple.

Funny how that works huh? My kids love it when I slice apples crosswise so that they have stars in the middle. :)
Thanks for the suggestion.

Hi Ella,
OK, I'm jealous! :D As some one else here said, our produce section is the size of an apartment closet. LOL. No collards (right now), or nori rolls, or blueberries, or raw nuts, or prepared foods. Avo's are iffy. I'm trying to save up so I can order some things online that we can't get around here. I'm going to try a garden this year, the kids will like that. Thanks for the advice!
Hi Misslinda,
'If you've gone back and forth with raw, your sense of taste will not have clarity as when you stay raw....it takes time to develop the clear taste of simple foods.'
I did notice when I cheated that foods I used to enjoy didn't taste as good as they used to. Maybe doing some mono eating will help me regain some apreciation for fresh foods. Thanks!
