Oh I just had to try so many times to make a long post to Lunar Fey. I went through so many problems. When I finally did get it to post it had not done any of the things I had asked it. Like colored letters. Change the font. Put the quote marks. None of it. The worst was writing that long post so many times and then being logged out during the time that I wrote it. . . and then having the post disappear because I was no longer logged in.

I do like the look and everything, my problem is its off center, unlike the old one that was centered better. Or is it just my pc?

Maybe it's me, but I don't get fancy with the colors, fonts, etc. Just type away and it works. I can't tell if it is off center however.

Hmmm...I haven't experienced any problems at all so far with posting, etc.
**shrugs** I'm wondering if it's just certain systems or browsers that could be having the issues.

This board is using the exact same software as the old board did. We just upgraded to the latest version and changed the look.
Please post a link to the post that you said was stripped of its colors, fonts, etc...
It shouldn't be logging you out - are you sure you didn't lose internet connection or your browser somehow timed out?

Every post I did today.
Edit: Except this one. Now I have to go find that post to Lunar Fey and put it here for admin.

No I have not lost internet connection or had browser problems that I am aware of at all. It is only with this site. I have encountered it since the makeover but today it is worse and especially irksome as I was not supposed to even spend the time here that I have.
I function off of 2 computers at this time and both have had problems with this new site.

OK, now I am going to be brutally honest. I liked the old board with the white background where the print took up the whole page. It was easier for me to read. Some of us just don't have the greatest vision and sometimes mine is really really bad. This green column on the left. . . I think it would be better interspersed in between the threads or as information to learn just like needing to know more about raw foods. Some of the links still don't work and I have not yet seen a thread that addresses the "Need Help". Does that mean I get straight to a moderator? . . . or straight to a thread about how to work this board. . . or straight to needing to learn more about raw or facts about raw?
I really felt like the big old board just felt rich and luxurious to me - not like some of those cheap other boards where you have to search by date through all the threads to find an old post that has the information you need. I just liked it big big big. . . . and I could read it easily.
Hmmmm..... I didn't get logged out when I made THIS post!

Well.. I like the look. I think it's pretty. And I don't really need all the colored fonts and stuff anyway... so ::shrug:: I think it's nice.:p
I thought I posted earlier, but I don't see it here.... that's one problem. But I do remember yesterday I was able to use colored fonts in a post. . . so it's not always... just sporatic. But it's not that big of a deal, really.
I love the green, and the offcenteredness is sort of interesting lol
Anyway... I'm happy.. it's all good!

I've found that none of the links from old posts work. If I do a search on a recipe and the post gives a link, all I get is a 'cannot be found' notice...

I see the problem with the links. Unfortunately there is no way to restore the links to the old posts. The upgrade script re-numbered all of the posts, so the links won't work.
You can do a search and the info should come up - as the posts are not lost.

To increase the size of your screen, it's very easy. If you have a pc with a mouse, hold down the control key with your left hand (or visa versa if you are left-handed). Then on your mouse, use the middle scroll button to either increase or decrease the screen.
On a laptop, it's the same thing. Hold down the control key and using the up/down scroll touch either increase or decrease the screen.
That might be able to help you read things better.
Oh, I just saw at the bottom of my screen (mine is located on the bottom right side, I have the option to zoom in. There's a little magnifier glass icon and a drop-down menu when you hit the down arrow next to it.
As far as changing colors, italicising, etc. I usually type in my info, then go back and highlight what I want to add color to and then bold it, color it, etc.
Hope these things help somewhat.
I love the new board. Course then again, I love change.

I get this, too. I hate to have my browser take up my whole window--usually it's taking up about 3/4 to 4/5 so I can still see the desktop icons on the left side (I keep my browser to the right side of the screen).
With the old RFT, I never had to adjust anything, but with the new layout, if my browser screen is in my preferred mode, all the posts run off the right side of the screen, meaning I have to scroll to the right to read them.
And when I click on a new post, I have to scroll right again because it does not remember the scrolled setting. It's really annoying. I know, people will just say "maximize your browser" but I work this way for a reason.
If the green sidebar were on the right side of the screen, it would solve this particular problem. I'd still have to scroll to see the entire sidebar, but I don't use that, so it wouldn't bother me. But to scroll right to read posts and blogs...that bothers me.
I'm using Firefox at 1028x768 (See... just to find out my screen resolution, I had to minimize this screen to get to my desktop. That annoys me.) I also get the same thing using IE at 1028x768.
I don't know if that all makes sense. Basically, I have to maximize my browser in order to not have to scroll right to read all the posts.
Don't hear me wrong... I'm not bashing the redesign... just frustrated with that particular aspect of it.

I haven't had any problems but wanted to mention that if you hold down the control key and press the + or the - keys it will increase or decrease the font on your screen also.
My only gripe is that the older links no longer work but if there is nothing that can be done about it then so be it. I don't have a problem using the search function.

This last issue has yet to happen to me and it didn't in the past. I think that has to do with my browser though (Safari- I'm on a mac) and the settings I've given it.

Finally frustrated editing a post and having to go through the system and the edit message shows at the bottom. I love the area where you can still stick information at the title area, but now after you post you can't. Edits go to the bottom. If there is a change in a recipe this could be frustrating if people don't read the small print at bottom. No don't change the print size.
At least twice today this has been my problem. Mods. thanks for looking into this. Maybe someone was frustrated earlier and posted, but today this is my challenge. Thank ya!

I haven't had any of the problems (really none at all) that I am seeing described here. Because some are having the problems and some are not kinda leads me to believe it's certain browsers - perhaps even going as far as to say 'older browsers'. I mean, if it were the board and only the board, wouldn't we ALL be experiencing these issues?
So, maybe those who are having issues with being logged out, fonts/colors/etc. not showing up, etc. could post what type of browser you are using and what version such as Internet Explorer 4.0 or Mozilla Firefox or Netscape or... and again, what version it is...is it the newest most updated version or is it an older version...also, what system are you using, PC or MAC? Also, is there the slightest possibility that any of you may have a virus on your system that is preventing you from having this forum function at it's most optimal level?
Those things may help our Admin to better pinpoint where the problem could be coming from.

We have shrunk the peaches a little bit - which should help you with sizing down the window. Let me know if it helps.

I think the off center thing people are talking about is just the green column to the left, with the shop/video links keeps the news board off to the right a bit and not centered. People have to scroll right to move the green column out of the way to read and write on the board otherwise it gets cut off.
If this is the way Alissa wants her design to make the links easy to see, we have to get used to the change. It's her vision. Putting the green column to the left of the board would solve the centering problem but then the links would get lost and frankly it would be bad marketing and new people who need the linkys would be missing out...

SWEET!!! I can view the new board just like the old one now :) Thanks much! It makes a huge difference, even if it sounds like a trivial issue.

It just happens once in awhile - like for a day here and there. I don't have the same problem with any other forum I visit so it is not a virus on my 'puter or program - it is specific to your forum but it is intermittent. Most maddening for you I imagine.

Thank you for the idea!! I tried Command + on the Mac and it works the same.

I have this problem as well and was considering posting to see if it was just me.
Each time I move to another page I can only see part of it and have to move the bar at the bottom of the page to centre it.
The page is bigger than the screen. I have tried to format it differently but can not fix it.

Sorry to everyone who had to go to the trouble of reading my gripe. I had it posted before I read the fix.
