Hi everyone,

WEll, I've been 100& raw for 8 days now....I really love it because I actually am eating more foods that I was before this. I was restricting myself to only brown rice, meat, fish, certain cooked veggies, certain fruit in the morning......and I was still having so many problems. WEll, I finally decided to go 100% raw and the first day, my kidneys stopped hurting!!! They've been hurting for like 3 months straight, with no diagnosis. WEll, along with other problems. Interstitial Cystitis, and tons of allergies. Well, since raw, all of the BIG problems are gone, except now I feel pretty tired all the time (although I think it has something to do with my food combining), and I've had a runny nose and a lot of mucous build up since like the 3rd day raw. (Before this, I haven't had the typical cold for like almost 2 years now....so this must just be detox, right?) Also, I'm having HORRIBLE indigestion. I was before raw, but now it seems to be worse. HORRIBLE Horrible bloating after I begin eating for the day, and acid reflux every night when I go to sleep. (Probably also from eating waaaay more than usual because I'm still getting used to mostly water based foods). Today, for example, started out great. I decided to just eat fruit all day long, and at home have my greens and maybe some coconut oil or an avocado for fat. So I had pineapple juice (blended pineapple and water), and then some pineapple pieces. Then I had melons- little pieces mixed into a big bowl (watermelon, cantaloup and honeydew). After the melon, I became extremely bloated again (my stomach was flat this morning after my BM), well, just really really bloated. So tight that I feel really uncomfortable. I'm really sick of being bloated now, as I thought going raw would help it. But maybe it was eating all three melons at once?? Or is that allowed with food combining? Should I not be eating fruit and be focussing more on greens? I know if I eat too much fat, I don't necessarily get indigestion, but I get really backed up. I have a huge tendency to get constipated easily. In the last 2 years I found out I have Celiac Disease (gluten intolerance) and before that, I wouldn't go #2 for like 3 weeks!!! Too much info????? :D  haha

I'm still hungry but my stomach is so enormous and so tight that I'm scared to put anything else in my body right now.........I really hate this feeling.

I've been reading the archives for the past week, and I love all the info. I'm getting here. I just know that in the long run, this will completely be my answer.

Also, is there something I can do to get rid of this bloating? How long does everyone else debloat after doing something 'incorrect?'

I really feel better raw already, a lot. My normal knee pains are gone, the kidney pains like I said, no IC symptoms, no nausea, not irritable, in a positive mood. Just reallly bloated and uncomfortable after eating......any help would be soooooo appreciated! Thanks so much!!!!!

My first thought? Incorporate more water into your intake. And Green Smoothies.
This all will pass. Your body is detoxing.

Thanks for replying so quickly! Well, I've tried one green smoothies. Not in the morning, but doesn't that go against the food combining rules? Why are green smoothis such a miracle? I notice everyone always talks about them.....

Also, how long did everyone else notice tons of bloating when they first went raw? And how long does it take before your body gets used to the change? And also, hahah lots of questions.....but is there anyone out there who is completely fine when not following the food combining rules? I mean, no bloat. I know I'm fine if I don't combine a very tiny tiny amount, but my appetite seems to be bigger than ever these days and the amount I can eat at one sitting is HUUUUUUGEEE!

THANKS!

Fruit and greens (leaves) combine with each other. Greens (leaves) are not a "vegetable". They blend together nicely, and complement each other.

Melons are best eaten alone, on an empty stomach, though - combined with many other things... well, be prepared to make some pretty music. ;)

While I wouldn't call green smoothies a "miracle", they are tasty, and a great way to incorporate more greens into one's intake. Green smoothies are quite filling and I don't find myself with an insatiable appetite when I drink them.

I don't find myself bloated or gassy unless I eat several types of things at one sitting.

Hi there,

You really should only eat one type of melon per meal.

Also be sure to eat slowly and thoroughly chew each bite.

If you are still getting bloated in a few days you might want to try mono eating (only one item per meal) for a while until your body gets used to the change.

Tiredness is a very common detox symptom. Eat simply and rest as much as you can until it passes.

BTW, I healed from IC with raw too! :-)

All the best,

Audry,

That is SO MOVTIVATIONAL! You don't have any IC symptoms at all anymore?!? That's great!!!

And that's what I was thinking....about the melons....because whenever I eat them together, it's like, I get so bloated (no stuffed), just so bloated and because I'm still hungry, really hungry, and it tastes so good, I end up being so bloated that I can't even breath normally for like 20 minutes!!!

So today I had pineapple for breakfast and for lunch I had tons of dates  I don't know if that is the best lunch for me haha but I just craved them so much......but now I feel like I won't want another date for like a week! haha :p

Also, what about salads though? I mean, in a few hours I know that I am going to want a HUGE salad......but that is combining a lot of different veggetables......possibly an avocado? Is this just as bad as eating all the different melons together? I'm so sick of bloating up like a pregnant woman, but I also want to enjoy my new meals.............any ideas?

I'm going for a colonic on Monday. Maybe that will help move things along so my digestive tract will be able to work properly.....;)

Hi Dani,

Mixing greens and veggies don't seem to cause as much digestive problems as mixing fruit does. Be sure to stick with the more tender, easier to digest greens like romaine lettuce, red and green leaf lettuce, and BABY spinach. Until your bloating subsides I would also avoid the tougher veggies like carrots, broccoli, red peppers etc. Stick to the more watery, easier to digest veggies like tomatoes and cucumbers. Avocado should be fine. Just remember that for improved digestion, the very ingredients the better. A simple salad with tender greens, tomato and cucumber topped with a salad dressing of fresh squeezed orange juice and avocado is very yummy!!!

Yes, all my IC symptoms resolved very quickly went I went raw. Raw is awesome!

Blessings,
