I'm 22 days 100% raw and have been doing eating alot of green smoothies which I love, fruits, small amounts of avacado and nuts and have not lost an ounce. I eat pretty often too and good portions.

I am doing this for health but its kind of discouraging not to have other benefits. My stomach is bloated cause of candida and that hasn't gone away yet either.

Anyone else have a hard time loosing weight? Dont know what my problem could be but most people the weight falls off.

Way to go for staying raw!

I've been 100% raw since early December. It's not until this past week that I noticed any significant weight change, as I now fit into a size smaller in jeans.

Weight is not always an instant reaction thing. 22 days is not very long, give your body time. Do you feel any other health benefits?

well, I've been doing it on and off the last 6 months also. I am trying to recover from chronic fatigue, candida, colitis, major tmj muscle pain...
So far I've just noticed my sugar cravings are alot less. My skin is clearing up. Dont have significant more energy yet but I haven't collapsed yet either. My stomach is still pretty bloated. I haven't started exercising yet cause I've just not gotten there yet.

But yeah, 21 days is not that long. But I thought it would be a good boost.

how much weight do you have or want to lose?

it seems to me that the more weight a person has to lose, the quicker and more dramatic the results.. so if you are only trying to lose maybe 10 or 20 pounds your body may be holding on to it.

how are you feeling physically? do you feel more healthy? more clean and light? focus on those things if that's the case and stick to it!

I'm so impressed btw.. the most I've gone 100% raw was like three or four days! way to go! :D

Hi lydias, way to go on being 21 days 100% raw, that's awesome! You mentioned a few ailments there: candida, chronic fatigue, colitis, major tmj muscle pain... Your body is probably working on healing the most important of those things, and not your weight right now. It's only been 3 weeks, be gentle with yourself and let your body heal at it's own pace. You're doing great, keep it up! :)

Thanks everyone for your encouragement!! :)

I only want to loose 10 lbs, I'm 5'5 and weigh 130 but somehow have to wear size 10 pants cause of my puffy stomach.

But like you said, I'm sure it will come. I have all the other symptoms that have to heal. I do feel more clean and light come to think about it. I feel happier for some reason.

I dont know how I got to day 22. I never was successful in the past. This time I followed Alissa's book and it worked pretty good. I do remember around day 5 is hard and then like day 13....now its feeling more natural.

Only thing is I have relatives from Poland making pierogi and I think it would be rude not to eat some. But I'm torn about it. It would be cooked wheat with potatoe or saurkraut. I wouldn't eat the cheese filled ones. They wouldn't understand this diet. They've already watched me eat my own dinners when my mom cooked. They said that is for rabbits, ha!! I think they find it humorous. I've already been bringing my own food around to places. Its just this is my dad's brother whom he hasnt seen in 30 years.
Anyways....

Thanks again so much!! I thought I was going to scream this morning when the scale didnt move. I will have to focus on the positive!

You are definitely on the right track! I agree with RawFoodieMum... The body is such an amazing, and intricate thing... you must TRUST that it is healing what needs most attention now... and it will naturally assist in melting the pounds when it is ready...

As long as you are nourishing it with healthy thoughts, a positive attitude, clean, organic healthy food and some sunlight, you have to BELIEVE that it will come...

I'm 3 months into raw, and I, like you, have not lost any weight. For the moment, my body is getting rid of the candida. And that's all I care for now! Actually, I'm grateful...

You are rawking! SO keep it up!

I have gone raw lots of times, this time now today is the 28th day. I haven't lost much weight yet, and my stomach is still kind of bloated too.

What I've seen is like what you guys have mentioned here, that our body will heal what is it's top priority before weight loss. also, the more toxic I am, I've noticed, the slower the weight loss is.

Nora Lenz says in her bio that she didn't lose any weight for 6 months, then all of a sudden it was just falling off.

So, what I"m doing is focusing on the benefits I've gotten so far-amazing looking skin (at 42 wrinkles are going away-yay!), sleeping so much more soundly, calmer mind and emotions, (even in the midst of a very trying time right now-divorce), able to get into deep stillness in meditation, self confidence, so much inner peace...even at this time, as I"m getting ready to move out on my own, with my kids and barely any income! gotta love raw!

hang in there, the weight will come off as we just be patient, love our bodies and let them heal!! :p

I've been high raw for three years. I've had my periods where I would be at 100%. Over all, I would say I'm 80%. When I was 100% I would always loose two or three pounds of water weight. Then as soon as a peice of cooked would enter my mouth, it would come back. I, as well, only had about ten pounds to loose. I was 118, I'm only 5'2" and I've been carrying around those extra ten pounds since college. Well, in December, I was my usual 80% raw and I started loosing weight. I lost four pounds. In January I lost another three and this month another two. I'm down to 109. I don't know why my body started loosing weight, but it did. The only thing I started doing different was taking the stairs by my office. Once an hour I go up and down four flights of stairs two times. By the end of the day I've logged in 15-20 minutes of stairs. Some nights I jump rope during the commerical break while I'm watching TV. I do that maybe two nights a week. I haven't jumped rope in over a week, but I'm still loosing! I haven't been this small since high school! It took me almost three years, but it was worth it! :)

Sometimes, it takes the body a while to fully detoxify itself and heal itself when you embark upon this lifestyle. It definitely takes time. Its really hard for the body to shed the unnecessary weight until it starts to get rid of all the other toxins first. Continue to allow the detoxification process to run its course...and for your body to heal itself. I bet once you body gets rid of a lot of what it no longer needs, the weight will begin to go, too.

Thanks again!

And thanks to Juicyfruit to reminding me on the stairs! That would be so easy for me to do at work. I have a rebounder at home which is the only exercise I can really handle right now but I am still too tired. And jumprope too!!
Anything I can do at work would be easier then when I come home after a 10 hour day.

It's not being rude to want to eat only healing foods. They wouldn't ask you to eat poison, would they? Okay, well wheat (gluten) is poison for you (at least it is to me). I found after I developed Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia that I was gluten intolerant -- the gluten contributed to my brain fog, fatigue, and PAIN. I also discovered that eating a raw vegan diet HEALED my body -- I no longer suffer from either of those dibilitating syndromes nor from several other serious and chronic illnesses. If they question you on why you are eating that way, look them right in the eyes and say (with strong conviction) "because it is medicine to my body...you don't want me to be sick, do you?" If they care about you, they'll be understanding. If they don't then their opinion doesn't really matter, does it?

When I started Raw, I also started exercising. At first, it was walking 5 minutes at a time during breaks at work. Then, 10 minutes. After a few months of Raw, I walked a 5K. Do what you can and build on that as your body heals.

So many of us that come to this board are brainwashed that we have Candida. I was one. I probably still have it as I have read that it is a naturally occurring organism in the human body.

I bloated up at first and retained water weight. I didn't start losing until I quit looking for it. Some seem to do fantastic right away. I think that there are so many factors to consider including age and metabolism. Also sometimes my shape will shrink down but I still weigh just as much and other times when my weight goes down but my clothes are still tight. Lately I have been getting heavy in the hips and legs and it surprises me.

You will lose the weight - I know that you will lose the weight.

I thank you for starting this thread! My weight isn't budging at the moment either. I love eating raw, and will continue to do it, but I would like to see my freshman 15 (actually 20!) disappear. I'm just going to keep on like I am and leave it up to my body to decide when to lose the weight. I came home yesterday to a house full of pizzapizza, and it didn't phase me at all. We get to eat WAY better food on raw!

WOW congratulations on being raw!!!

when I went raw, I lost a bunch of weight right up front, then nothing for two whole months, boy was I discouraged, I really was feeling so sorry for myself, but I KNEW in my heart of hearts, that eating raw food was the best thing for me and my body, so I kept going, then one day, I dropped 15 pounds, over a weekend.

I started to think, that eating raw isn't about the weight loss, although that was a good thing to look forward to.

what raw does, is give your body the BEST possible food on the planet, and with the best food, you are gaining health and energy, and with that, your body and detox and heal, sometimes the healing involves losing massive amounts of weight, easily, other times it is detoxing, or releasing cancer, or migrains, or disease, but no matter what, eating raw foods will allow your body to heal in it's own and perfect time.
