I've not started the raw yet :( When preparing for little ones I'm afraid I won't get it balanced. Do you do several things each meal? Thank you!

I eat what I feel like(and have no kids)but when my nephews are over I cook and thats usually a smoothie ,soup, salad or fruit or nut milk,I think if you did something like that it would be good(especially if you dont want to dehydrate) and maybe add avocado in theyre diet ....really it comes down to a marriage of what they like and whats best for essential vitamins ,fats and minerals, which are hard too hide from on the raw diet!
a strawberry smoothie w/orange banana strawberries and a handfull of amonds or flax?
maybe do something like a sprout salad w/avoccado
a nectarine or jicama fries ,see what combo they like best
,but like I said make sure there is some fat ,fruit and veggies-again throughout the day (not in one meal exactly) in this diet those are easy to find!

hello i just wanted to tell you about my little sister shes 5yrs old and cant have dairy or sugar or wheat and gluten and so she eats a lot of the raw things i do and she loves it she even prerfers it a lot of the time she loves smoothies and fruit alone and salads with raw crackers and goes crazy for avocados and nuts and seeds and dried fruit she even takes these kind of things to school even though all her freinds have sweets and sandwiches she comes home and says danielle there all so unhealthy at school all they eat is rubbish! im not going to eat like that she says!
and she just tells me if she wants more to eat and shes happy and healthy and shes helping me do it as well as she wants me to get better
i think your kids will like the raw food especially if there young as they grow up with it dont they i hope it goes well for you when you do go raw

i have 3 kids. they are not 100% raw yet, but i am working toward it. i try to incorporate as many fresh fruits and smoothies as i can. when i make a salad for myself, i almost always try to get them to take a small bowl with me. half of the time they say yes. even my 15 month old will eat a salad! yeah for avocados!

My kids (2 boys, 8 & 4) are not all raw; but eat a lot of raw things.
I try to include something raw with each meal.
I often do a veggie plate: just cut up veggies-cruddettes
baby carrots, cucumber, bell peppers, broccolli, etc.
They eat nuts and some seeds.
Smoothies are a hit! I did a young coconut one last week and added blueberries,
and some hemp protein powder. They also like carab smoothies alot too.
Papaya/Banana pudding is a hit!!!!
Carab pudding is a hit (avocado, soaked dates, agave syrup, carob, and some
raw cacao if you have it). I just call it chocolate pudding and they lap it up.
My youngest likes gaucamole and my oldest doesn't. But the oldest eats avocados
if it is hidden in the carob pudding. The youngest is really picky about eating/trying
new veggies so I make a lot of fresh juices for him. I called a green one "HULK juice"
and he drank it (cucumber/celery/apple/ginger). I often make up kid friendly fun
names and they like that (i.e. date "cakes", apricot cookies for dried apricots,
broccolli trees).
Oh they loved the buttered pecan ice-cream recipe that was posted on a thread last week or so-i just told them it was banana icecream. They also love Alissa's blueberry pie recipe. They love fruit.
I cut up kiwi's and mango's the other day and made a beautiful platter for their breakfast and they loved it.
So to answer your question on doing several things in one meal?
Yes I do. It is not optimal for digestion and absorption, but right now I am focasing
on getting them to eat (they are natural really thin like their dad is) as much as possible, and transitioning them over to the tastes of natural foods vs. the typical
processed ones. They don't eat a lot of the typical SAD diet anyways, but I do buy processed foods from Whole Foods..although a better choice, still processed nonetheless.
HTH
Best Wishes.

I basically echo what punky had to say. I incorporate raw salads and fruit into all their meals. At lunch, they may have a sandwich, but no chips, pretzels or other processed food. They have 3 pieces of fruit to go along with their sandwich. Same thing at dinner. At least 1/2 of their meal is raw. This is a slow process for them, and they can speed it up if they want to, but for now, the 1/2 raw dinner if accepted by them. Actually one evening we all ate a raw dinner, but they told me "this is not for every night".
