A friend turned me on to you guys and I love it. For the past week or so I've been 90% raw and for the last few days I've been 80% juice. The more I make the more I crave it. I'm planning on going on a juice fast starting the first of March.

The challenge that I see is this.

A lot of my life revolves around food. Going out and meeting friends for dinner, summer BBQ's and a dinner party that has been scheduled for every Sunday for the past 6 years ... and we are hardly vegan. Last summer the BBQ consisted of over 100 lbs of pork. I've been the chef to everybody I know since I was a kid.

Have any of you conquered this before? I don't want to lose the friends.

I had something similar when I quit smoking (2-3 packs/day). The nicotine was the easy part. The hard part was the ritual surrounding it. How does one conquer this?

Get Alissa's book and DVD. They will help you conquer this. You will become the raw chef extrordinaire!

Talk little and offer lots of tastings and tryings. Smoothies are great for winning people over.

Christian,
While I don't have the same enormous food social encounters that you have, I have learned something in Alissa's DVD that has proven true for me.

Don't wait to have raw vegan friends to start the raw vegan diet. Soon, they will come around you like a magnet. You will begin to create a social circle with the friends you have now, as well as new friends, in eating this way. It has happened to me. I've been eating this way (off and on) for about 40 days now. One friend already has taken off on the raw vegan diet, which has really helped me to continue.
