ok lots of MISC food questions for all of you raw food veterans (trees and leaves I think you're all called now ;) ):

How long can prepared veggies be kept in the fridge? Many of these recipes simply make too much food!!

When you heat to finger warm, should you get a thermometer to make sure it's the right temperature?

How long can you leave veggies out to get that room temperature feeling?

How do you know if you can use the sun to "dehydrate" your food and how do you do that, just cover it with plastic or foil?

These are just a few on my mind at the moment, thanks for your help!

Love y'all

I NEVER make a full recipe. I always cut the ingredients anywhere from half to thirds. But most of the time, I don't leave things in the fridge more than 3 days. Depends. An apple pie or cheesecake I've left for 4 to 5 days. But a salad or a whipped up pate, I usually like to eat within 2 to 3 days.

Personally, that's too much work for me. I wing it. I know my body temp is 98.6 so if it's barely warm, it's fine.

How long can you leave veggies out to get that room temperature feeling?Depends on the veggie? Also depends on how warm the air is?

How do you know if you can use the sun to "dehydrate" your food and how do you do that, just cover it with plastic or foil?YOu can buy a really inexpensive dehydrator that you hang up. It has screen and allows for airflow and has canvas shelves. They're cool and run around $20

For me I usually get 3-5 days out of prepped veggies. 7 out of leaves and greenies. I don't prep much but when I do I try to keep them sealed well somehow.

Different veggies "get weird" at different times because they release gases at different rates and their enzymes break them down at different rates. If you store the ones that release gases at the same rate together they last longer. The warmer the food the faster the enzymes will excite and break down the food too. So fridge to last longer is a given. I hope this makes sense.

For instance peppers, onion, radish and garlic are OK stored together.
Carrots, Celery, leaves, tomatoes are good together.
Put a bell pepper and celery together and the celery will get wilty weird faster.

As for sun cooking I"ve only done pizza on a foiled piece of cardboard at the beach...worked great! To keep buggies off gauze works...

I don't use a thermometer...I figure if we are 98.6 or so and soup feels slightly warm it's probably about 110. Like when you check a baby bottle on your wrist!
