Well, or shoot, should I wait for Alissa's. I wish I knew for sure it would be coming out this spring. What to do!? Can I survive without a dehydrator? Probably huh?

Miss Linda,
You are right... I would be able to make some of the bigger things in the excalibur that I couldn't in the spinning thing I have right now. And pizza crusts without a hole in the middle! And crepes that don't look odd...

Ah jeez... I should just get one. I would love to wait for a pretty color though.

Aghh...the decisions!

I just bought a dehydrater and I got the 9 tray one. Pretty much because the next one down wasn't that much price difference and also because I didn't want to regret not having a big enough one.

Definitely the nine tray! It helps when you're making things that are bigger.

LOL, yur cute! SO far everyone that has a excalibur nine tray has said it made their life of raw sooooooooooo much easier! I bet you'd get creative and make some wonderful tasting treats and sell them!:)

9 tray. Find out if the whole thing will be in color or just the trays. Excalibur makes some with different colored trays ~ well, they did.

I like black myself. Less and easier cleaning.

I asked myself this same question, hubby isnt on board and its technically just me and then my 2yo ... I thought 4 would be ok, 5 would be better but 9 leaves room to grow and it also sealed the deal when I thought I could make larger portions of "dinner" type foods that I could try feeding my husband as well ...

When it came down to it and I asked my husband if I could go ahead and get one ( meaning the 5 ) he said get what you want -- SO I went with the 9 LOL Im looking forward to playing ... just need to figure out where the heck Im going to put it !!!! Dont have much counter tops at all, and not sure if Id want to put it on the dryer I wipe up lint dust from the top so I dont think thatd be a good additive to foods in the dryer lol ( odd set up in this apt that Im living in kitchen has both washer and dryer but on different sides of the room  ya I dont understand either )

And ya I ordered my excalibur like 30mins before I found out Alissa was coming out with one - bummer me lol ... but I could always upgrade or maybe by the time it comes out I may feel I need to add another one so I can make up more things and Ill use it as a reward or my birthday is in June and that will be what I buy myself :)

It was a rush of excitement when I hit submit for the excalibur lol kinda another step towards achieving success with raw I guess?!

can you get away with using a round dehydrator?

5 tray works perfect for us 2 here. In fact it's ideal because it makes me dehydrate less which is preferable.

I'm one person and love the 9 tray. I use a lot of the trays at one. Plus if you have something taller and need the extra height it is so worth it.

I also was torn as to which one to buy, I decided on the 9 tray in the end. And I'm the only one in the house that is raw, and I also already had the round one which was difficult to use for items that were not perfectly flat. After I ordered my 9 tray, I read somewhere "which one to purchase". And I was so happy that I decided to go for the 9 tray. I have un-meatloaf and stuffed mushrooms drying as I speak.

Well... I have made a decision!

I am going to wait. I am going to live without a dehydrator until Alissa comes out with hers. I desperatly want the latest and greatest.... in pink, please. I e-mailed Alissa on a prototype date and her assistand e-mailed me back with April. So if it's April, May, June.. sometime in there I'm sure I can handle it. If not  ... I know what to do.
Thanks for all your replies!

you can never have too many appliances, LOL

at least that is how I feel.

I have 3 dehydrators, 2 9 trays, to do all of my dehydrating in, especially when I make sun dried tomatoes or dry my herbs, and I have a 4 tray for traveling

I think it is so cool that Alissa is coming out with her own, I'd say, get a 9 tray for now, then when Alissa comes out with hers, get that one too, you'll be glad you have more than one, when tomatoes are really inexpensive in the fall, and you want sun dried tomatoes this winter, or herbs, or onion bread, or pizza crusts, or.........................

I second rawpriestess! We already have a 9 tray, and we are in a two bedroom apt. When we move to our house, dh will be getting me a second 9 tray! Hopefully Alissa's will be ready by the time he is ready to order! We move beginning of April. But by the time we get settled, buy the furniture we need, etc., etc., hopefully hers will be available!:D

IMO, you can never have too much dehydrator space, but you can have too little!

Does anyone use the ParaFlexx sheets rather than the Teflex in their dehydrators? I have a friend who loves them. More sturdy. I hope Alissa uses ParaFlexx in hers....
