How long for walnuts?

I found a cool recipy for pesto that doesn't include pine nuts (haven't been able to find those raw) but it includes walnuts, and it says to soak them but I don't know for how long. Do walnuts sprout, probibly not eh? I dunno, lol, I'm confused. Maybe 4 hours?

Walnuts are quite soft so anywhere from 1-4 hours should be fine.
