Am I cooking it???

I melt my Artisana Coconut Butter by putting it in a bowl and letting the hot tap run in the bowl. Is there a chance that I am cooking it?

No. The melting point of coconut butter is 78°

If you're worried get a thermometer. Long as it doesn't go over about 115 or so you are okay. Some say 118 but to be safe I stay a little under. I have a cooking thermometer that has a long soft wire that goes from the little digital monitor to a metal temperature probe (bed bath and beyond) that I put in my dehydrator to keep it set right even tho it's an excalibur the temperature on these things is never what it says on the dial. Very reassuring to me. :cool:
