Ok.. so for a couple of weeks I've been having trouble sleeping.
Toss & turn, mind won't hush, just wide awake until 2 or 3 am. Then I have to get up early and am exhausted all day. I couldn't figure this out until last night about 7 pm as I brought one of RP's brownies up to my lips and started to take a bite..... and "SCHPLING!" The light went on... and I thought, "Duhhhhhhhhhh...... chocolate has caffeine in it!"

:::slaps herself on the forehead:::

I guess I need to eat those brownies before dinner!:p

ha ha! some people are sensitive to caffeine. I could drink coffee before bed and still sleep soundly. :D

YES!!! thats so funny, it took me a couple of weeks to realize what was keeping me up at night and making me jittery during the day and it was definitely the cacao. i can eat it, just not a lot of it.

I'm with you Trinity, I am now finishing me last cup of coffee for the night and going to bed. I hope to give this coffe up soon though. It's the only thing keeping me from being 100% raw.

BTW - Sleep tight RowanC:)

Back in the day when I consumed caffeine , any amount of caffeine actually knocked me out sound asleep. I have no idea why.

I am so very sensitive to caffeine, I always have my chocolate goodies early in the day and then still don't eat too much at once or I won't sleep a wink. It feels like someone is holding my eyes open for me!

Have a good night of sleep tonight!!

Caffine used to make me fall asleep too, no matter what the amount was. Then after stopping caffine for over a year I had a SIP of green tea with natural caffine and got an instant migrane!

I have had the same thing happen.

So yesterday I made them with carob instead and loved them. Now I don't have to worry about when I eat them.

I do not have a problem with caffeine. I can have a big cup of coffee before bed and sleep like a rock. I wish I did have a problem with it though, then maybe I wouldn't have a problem staying away from it. :p

I definitely have "DUHHH" moments, not for the reason you had one, but DUH moments just the same, LOL.

oh, those brownies do that to me too, luckily I like to stay up till 4 or 5, then go to bed, heck, it's 3:30 am now, and I'm still working, LOL well, writing anyway,

I'm just a night owl, but yes, the brownies can keep you up, I think if you react to them that strongly, then you may wish to use carob instead of the cacao, or mix 1/2 and 1/2, see if that helps you at all.

and hopefully, you'll get some rest.

:o)

I wish caffeine did that to me! LOL!:D I mix 1/2 carob and 1/2 cacao for recipes, but that's just to use up the carob so I don't really taste it. I have found I don't like the taste. But you should try it if you have that reaction to caffeine. It's worth a shot right? Or, eat the brownies earlier in the day. That way you have an outlet for it. Just my thoughts.

I've been making chocolate desserts for night time too because that is when I fall subject to my sweet tooth... I had the same problems as RowenC - couldn't sleep, etc... then I read her post! (Another "Duh" moment)! I never got that way from drinking coffee, but the raw chocolate makes me want to run a marathon! I'll have to eat it before I work out...

It's funny how the cocoa makes some people hyper and others go to sleep.

Back about oooooohhhhh... 28 years ago, the doctors told my sister in law to feed my niece coffee. She was hyperactive, and by golly.... the caffeine slowed that kid down! It was truly amazing. They'd give her about 1/4 cup of coffee before bed, and ZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!
