Hello everyone!

I guess if you want to heal way over trained muscles then you would just not exercise until they are healed? Here is a "short" version of my story:

I got into exercise, and I started by dancing in my house to music for fun and exercise for about 30 minutes. Then I started to run, (by the way I exercised 7 days a week, I know I should have rested one day at least) then I started going to the gym and I started to lift weights. Then I moved up to 1 1/4-1 1/2 hour at the gym, very intense running though. I was a cardio lover. I did not strech that much, I rarely warmed up or cooled down enough, and I didn't take breaks. I did a lot of this (from the time I started going to the gym) when the gym first opened. Okay, during this time, I started to undereat a little. I got VERY skinny and exhausted. Well one day I did a work out, and my arms were sore for longer then they should have been, and my butt was sore for 2-3 weeks! I was very shocked. I am thin, and I have always been thin, so getting even thinner, I don't know if that was good for my body.

Well, that was about 1/2 a year ago. During that time I also had gotten shin splint and I healed that early on before I started training very hard. Then when I ran way too much, I injured my leg. It was in front of my hip down the front of my leg. Well, that has healed. Thank you to my body! Well, then something happened with my knee and my calf. It hurts sometimes. And I did some muscle testing and I got that my thighs were still over trained and didn't recover yet and that is why it hurt. It suprised me, but that was my feeling. My body went through a lot of stuff at the same time...around the same time I started to eat a lot of raw food, my hair started to fall out (my hair is not falling out anymore), I started to not exercise and eat tones of nuts and banana's. So, maybe it is just still over-trained deep down in my thigh. Because my thighs are very hard. I am now eating a balance diet. So that will help. And I am thinking positive.

Something that really stood out to me, was this lady told me that when your body is stressed or dealing with a lot of things. Your body will heal the parts that are essential for life before it would heal other parts, like say injury or hair, ect. So, maybe I just need to be in baance, so then the rest of my body can heal, and all of my body is healed!

And suggestions? Or information?

Thank you for reading!

I'm with ya! I pulled a "hammy" 6 days ago and am still nursing it! If you know me at all you know I am an exercise nazi and to be injured like this is killing me...But I think you are right about "balance" because the past month has been quite stressful at work but being the "type A" personality that I am I would not "allow" it to slow me down....so God stepped in I guess.....But it's been 6 days and yesterday I felt worse!!!! I can't exercise, felt wobbly" in my pelvic region and started feeling depressed.....Now, in hindsight I have to wonder if it was me "letting go" of the situation and letting my body take over....Yesterday I used the infared sauna 2 x + "pounded" the water and revamped my eating.....really had a pep talk with myself....+ now we are on a week's vacation from school and that stress....
Now, this a.m. I feel great, almost back to normal except I am unsure if I should attempt to exercise for my mental state or laze around again? I "slept in" and feel pretty good aside from the low grade headache I have had for several days....
Wow, didn't really help or answer YOUR questions but maybe just let you know you're not alone!!!!
So, back to you...I believe you are right...When your life is out of balance, you are out of balance...I guess we BOTH need to learn a lesson from this:( But I hope it helps to know someone else is going through the same thing. Good luck and happy healing!

I hear ya loud and clear..

I think God stepped in to try to slow me down too.
I'm currently nursing a cut lip/chin

All I can think about is running, but I couldn't possibly.
I'm even dreaming about it. Since I'm confined to resting, out come all my running movies, I think I'm realising I need balance.

all I can suggest, is up the vit C and E for healing and favour greens a lot.

Sorry to hear of the injuries, as far as warming up or cooling down before my runs I don't do any. I start out at 12 min mile pace for 30 sec or so then start picking up the pace till I'm running comfortable at the pace my body feels good at that day, if it feels slow I pick it up, if the bear jumps on my back, I slow it down, way down. Yes, you can over train on any eating lifestyle, the more you exercise the more you need to supplement to get the needed nutrients in your body. Every body is different as far as what works for you, just keep tweeking your eating and exercise habits to find your natural style. Sleep and rest are the most important healing things we can do for our bodies, try to go without either one for awile if you don't think so. I know Di you are doing better.:D In the meantime get them buns moving. Forever young:cool:

Thank you everyone!

I actually think that my body might need a rest from exercise for a little while because I abused it. Maybe I need to appreciate it more, and promise my body that I will listen to it! I used to get in this "mode", where I wanted to be super woman and I could keep going and going and never rest. But...I guess balance comes in again here, you body needs it's rest and play! I call work play, beacuse I love work. I am creating a good relationship with it, and things keep getting better everyday.

I also keep thinking; well, maybe I can exercise now. And then I go crazy and I'm like "oh yes I love this!" I never have to stop, and then...my body says wait a minute, where is my rest and nutrient? I need that too you know! If you don't stop I am going to make you! So, I think that points out, that I just need to live in balance and listen to my body! My body will heal, as long as I let it. And I say YES to healing! I love my body! I love my body!

I have an idea, try saying this: "I love my body and the more I love it, the more lovable it becomes!"

Thank you all!

So, right now, I should probably be taking a break from exercise? Does any of you believe or have experienced sore muscles for a long time?

Thank you!

P.S.

Affirmation: "My leg is healed, my body is healed, I love myself! I am at one with my body, my body no longer needs to cause pain to get me to listen. I respect my body! I listen to my body! I am healed!"

Hi

Sounds to me like you've been a bit of aexercise-o-holic...so I really think you should take a break. Just do very simple everyday stuff like walking to work. Not overdoing it. Me myself hav had times of exercisa obsession when I haven't been able to have a one day rest because of the anxiety that brough me. Then I took a break, and it really helped, now I'm back doing 10 hrs of dancing per week.

Then when you feel ready to start, do light things like yoga, pilates and walking. Just keep it simple. ou can love your body and be semi-super woman, ya know :)

Thank you for the advice!

Did you injury yourself, or get over trained muscles when you over did the exercise? I think it comes back to balance.

Thank you again!

I always recommend light stretching and yoga to help heal the stiffness...I used to be on a national swim team, and our training was rigorous. However, I have discovered some herbal muscle soaks over the years that help:

Epsom salt baths with a little eucalyptus oil will help soothe strained, over worked muscles and joints and with ease any pain.

Cayenne pepper and pineapple will reduce inflammation and help with pain.

Bananas will help with potassium and speed up recovery.

Rubbing an "ointment" made of olive oil, eucalyptus oil, clove oil, and peppermint oil will act similarly to an icy-hot.

Young coconut is the highest natural source for electrolytes, and will also help with the recovery process.

Hope this helps...it has worked for me!

Also, new research is beginning to show that stretching before running or any high-intensity, high-impact activity might not be such a good thing because it makes the tendons, ligaments, and muscles more prone to straining and snapping. They say it is best, before a run, to walk for ten minutes, gradually increasing pace, instead. :) Get to feeling better!

I agree, I never stretch before or after a run just start slower then pick up the pace than walk when done to cool down. Forever young:cool:

I've got a long story to tell...so I'll keep to the actual question.....
About 2 years ago, I couldn't move my head or neck. Over done, over abused, over worked....whatever...my body was done. Type A personality, two businesses, and one was yoga. Yes, you can overdue in yoga too. So two years later, still working on it. My yoga practice and teaching has radically slowed down, softened, mellowed.....so has my stress at work. Stretching and warming up? two different things. If the muscles aren't warmed, they won't stretch, easily anyway. If there isn't an opposing muscle engaged, turned on, the opposite muscle won't stretch, no matter how hard you try to stretch it. For example, if you want to stretch your hamstring, you need to engage your quad and also your upper back. If you are slouched then that hamstring won't go anywhere. Most of my muscles have been tight for the last two years. They finally revolted. I was a runner, weight lifter......There is also a lot of emotion in our muscles. With some Postural Restoration, and now eating raw, they are releasing.
So, yes, muscles can be tight for a long time. That is what fibromyalgia is. I chose not to think that way. I choose to be in my body from now on, to listen to what it wants and needs. I still do about 4 days of yoga, and when the weather turns again, will be back hitting the streets, walking, for cardio. Sometimes, the pain is not where the hurt is. My training has taught me to look elsewhere for the solution. Sometimes elsewhere is another muscle than the one that hurts......Keep listening...stay warm....and release through breath. Smile and laugh more. Watch a funny movie.
Be well.:)

Wow, that you all!

aubrey, thank you for those tips! Do you eat the banana or do you put it in your bath?:D And do you put the rest of the stuff in your bath too? Or do you eat some of it?

Raw Mom, thank you for your story! What exactly is fibromyalgia? Are you saying it is a muscle thing? Please explain more! Thank you!

Thank you everyone!

Hi again,
Fibromyalgia is a common condition characterized by long-term, body-wide pain and tender points in joints, muscles, tendons, and other soft tissues. Fibromyalgia has also been linked to fatigue, morning stiffness, sleep problems, headaches, numbness in hands and feet, depression, and anxiety.
That is the online definition. Be softer with yourself. The raw lifestyle is meant to bring out emotional stuff also. Don't get caught up with a diagnosis. Trust your intuition. That is what brought you to raw food also.
I don't know how old you are, but figure it took you that long to develop all of these things, don't expect them to disappear overnight. I'm 45 and I've been working on this for at least 2 years. Only went raw 6 months ago. "Feeling will get you closer to the truth of who you are than thinking."

Than you Raw Mom!

I am 18 years old this year. I have been raised knowing all about health, so that is one of the paths I am taking now. I have also been studying a lot for the last year or so. I looked up Fibromyalgia, it is when there is a acid condition in the body. I have been testing my urine PH and it has hung between 6.0-6.5 in the day. That is sort of acidic. I agree on not claiming anything! Thank you for reminding me.

I would like to know more about what you said, about the muscle or place on your body that hurts might not be the strained, overtrained or hurt one. I had a feeling like that, so I am very interested in what you have to say! Please explain more if you will! ;)

I will tell you what has hurt; on the outside of the knee, and various places in the calve most of the time on the left leg (I am using past tenses so then I do not claim it, I do not claim it). I almost connected it to the lower back or the butt. Hmm. What do you think?

Thank you!

Love to all!

You eat the food things, and use the oils and the salts on the skin and in the bath. :) Sorry not to clarify!

Fibromyalgia is something I used to sufgfer severely from before going raw. It is actually a neuro-endocrine syndrome that occurs when your endocrine system gets out of balance and thus causes certain horomones and neurotransmitters to either under produce or over produce, throwing your body out of whack. The two main neurotransmitters that get out of balance are norepinepherine and serotonin, along with a substance in the spinal fuid called Substance P. Basically, these all control two main things, sleep and pain. So when they all get out of balance, they send signals of pain to the fascia, or this thin membrane that coat the muscles and stimulates them to move. This causes neurologically-related pain, twitching, numbness, and spasming in the muscles with varying degrees of each symptom differing person to person. This also triggers fatigue and an inability to sleep a normal deep sleep cycle, perpetuating the fatigue.

Studies show that being acidic and eating processed foods is a cause of the imbalance in our bodies, and the more raw and living foods we eat, the more alkaline we beome, and the more balanced our body is, thus alleviating the symptoms of Fibromyalgia.

Thank you aubrey! I really appreciate you help!

I am trying different things with my diet, and I will see what happens. I felt like I was clogged with "nut butter", like I was eating to much of fatty foods. I kept feeling signs. So, now I am eating more whole foods.

I give thanks for healing!

Love to all!

Love heals!
