My daughter has been deployed to the Persian Gulf and I would like to send her something - something good for her. Is there anything (raw) that I can make her that would travel well and hold up more than the 3-5 days to ship it to her?

I just found RP's Brownie recipe and love it! I actually made them into "Brownie Bites" (balls) instead of the bars. I'm wondering if this is something that would travel well and if I need to worry about them spoiling before they get to the Persian Gulf?

I wonder how granoila or a cereal like with the nuts/raisins would hold up for travel and snack?

Nuts/and dried fruits should hold up nicely. I would think crackers too. Just my first thoughts here. Best to your daughter.

The Larabars look like they'd travel well.
And I"m not sure how the jerky holds up but that was my son's favorite when he was stationed in Bosnia. Easy to carry around in your pocket and munch on. Or maybe coat some nuts with sweet or savory sauce and dehydrate?
I think the Lemon Chewies would travel pretty well. And FRUIT LEATHER!

And.. you know what else I just thought of?
When I was eating SAD, I'd make spaghetti sauce then dehydrate it for backpacking. I'd just add water and heat and voila! So why couldn't you dehydrate alissa's marinara sauce like a fruit leather and send it? You could probably even dehydrate the noodles! She'd just add water and let it soak a bit and stir...

Thank you for the suggestions! I can see I will be busy. I think she has a refrigerator in her cabin so she could store some food once she received it. I'll have to dig my dehydrator out to accomplish all of this.

Thank you again for all the suggestions!

Donna - My prayers are with your daughter. We are also in the military community. It is hard, but having stuff come over there from you will help her.
