Evergreen......the strongest and most disease resistant tree. A symbol of loyalty and strength.
What do you think?

HA! Gardener, i love that! Evergreen, i like that too!
Hmmm.... how about 'keeper of the forest' - too long and corny? Both of those made me think of something like that though. I guess gardener says something to that effect, whats another name for gardener...landscaper...
Tree, we could use tree.... hmmmm, just thinking out loud....

Gardener is cool :)

I love the idea.. the feeling behind it.. (I don't fancy gardener though myself)
How about... now this is a bit Tolkeinesque...
ENT
(the keepers of the trees!)
(Tho I spose it also stands for Ear Nose and Throat LOL)
But the Ents have names...
Treebeard (hehe)
I like Leaflock
There's Wandlimb (nice!)
Quickbeam, Skinbark.. (not so flattering LOL)
Maybe we could be Ents and give ourselves a name :D
Maybe i'm too exciteable about names LOL
OH how about different trees then?
There are different trees for diff personalities/when you are born... take a look:

I really LOVE names and naming, and I love the idea of it being personalised too.

ooh not ent thunder!!! i like tree or forest though and keeper of the forest doesnt sound too long to me..yeah i like that..as we are all seedlings and roots etc
alissa another name for gardener is horticulturalist!!! i prefur gardener!!
thunderdancer
09-15-2004, 08:47 AM
LOL Marigold, that's what I though about Gardener ;)
I love keeper of the forrest too, sounds beautiful, wild and natural.
Alissa
09-15-2004, 10:33 AM
yick, i agree, not horticulturalist. :p
The keepers of the trees, i love that! Or maybe keeper of the forest is good its kind of growing on me. It sounds more intense then gardener.
I love names also. I think they hold so much meaning. Many times i meet someone and they just dont 'seem' like their name to me. I keep calling them something else only to find out its their middle name or nickname or something. I think there is a lot of energy in names and numbers.
I tried this link, it doesnt work for me????
http://www.no-exit-studios.demon.co.uk/Trees.htm
So, that means for instance, Kristi could be a keeper of the forest and Miss Evergreen. HA!
Then she would also have her board name which is Kristi... hmmmm lots of names here!

Hmm, something with the word "Omniscient" in it would be awsome I think. Like Omniscient Ent or Omniscient Keeper of the Forest etc. Omniscient Evergreen sounds cool too :)

"Omniscient"...WOW. Add that to the list of reasons I would love to be a Moderator! :)

Lol yeah, hmm do you think it's maybe a bit too arrogant sounding? How do you get to be a moderator anyway?

analeah..good question - what are you moderators doing ? job decription please..thunder i see you just got promoted.?

09-17-2004, 05:16 AM
I'm not doing anything technical, I don't know how yet - just being here.
Yeah :) Alissa asked me to be a moderator.
The moderators move posts about so they are in the 'right' place and i'm not sure what else - Alissa?
I'm just answering stuff where I can and supporting and sharing - being me, not different at all to be honest.
Thank you for noticing ((( Marigold )))

I hadn't noticed until now that you are a moderator. Just wanted to say congrats on the promotion, you definately deserve it with all you have contributed to the forum!

Hi Guys,
I asked thunderdancer to be a moderator because she has the most post on the boards, she has been here since the beginning, she is on the boards a lot of the times throughout the day, answers many post as soon as new ones go up and is always answering people right away and continuing to write and keeping post going, creates new posts, writes about interesting topics, is always helpful and welcoming people, has a fun, sweet and kind energy but also writes from her heart and can be serious and intense.
I dont know her but have grown to love her through the board.
I needed another moderator besides Kristi and Sue who are doing an amazing job to help me with these boards.
Moderators are the eyes and ears of the boards, whats out that things are not placed in the wrong places, (although many things overlap anyway,) but they can move post, delete any obscene post- which hasnt been a problem here! And can make me aware of any problems with the boards if im not on it all the time, and keep the boards flowing with writing and posting and creating.
I probably wont need any more moderators real soon (unless maybe one more) but as the boards grow i will and usually they are picked by how often you write and the other qualities mentioned above. There are a group of people who write here often and who are a huge part of these boards and without everyone these boards would not be possible so I thank you all! I just needed someone who is always writing and present since i am not.
so, if you want to be a moderator, keep writing!!!!
Best,
Alissa

How about "Garden Gnome"? they are deligtfull and tend the garden and keep it orderly and free of weeds and inspire it growth. Im a bit puzzled by the tree talk around here.. my question is are we growing into tree's or fruits and vegies :)...
Cheers,

Or perhaps Guardians of the Garden...or "Tenders" :)
Kristi
09-20-2004, 08:27 AM
I haven't cared for the gardener idea because it makes it seem like I know everything about tending this garden and I sooooo don't. I am learning more than I'm teaching. I want to be part of the garden. I want to grow!!!!! I want to be a daisy......still growing and reaching for the sun and being a bright surprise in the garden. (I have a thing for daisies.....old nickname.) Hey what about a different flower or plant name for each moderator....signaling continued growth but having blossomed?
thunderdancer
09-20-2004, 10:02 AM
I like Guardians :D
It's like Kristi says too - like still growing in teaching and teaching in growing... there must be a word to go with Guardian that reflects this... hmmmmm

What about motivating moderator? Or Moderating motivator lol or even omniscient motivating moderator would be fun. Lol kind of silly but I think it's fun too.

Well, we are all still growing and all of us started out at different places...the Moderators -to my understanding- are "Guardians" that "tend the garden". I like that whole vibe and I feel it is most accurate...we have Moderators at all stages of Raw, and there are some "seedlings" and "sprouts" that have been Raw for years as well as newbies..."Guardians" feels like the most fair representation of what they are- keepers of the garden, those tending to the garden...not better or more wise or anything that implies a hierarchy at all, which seems like the true reflection of the situaion to me based on what I see and read... :)

How about " Care Taker" Its to the point and its what you guys do!
Analeah
09-22-2004, 12:45 AM
Wow, everyone has such great ideas! I think it's too hard to choose. What about letting each moderator choose their own name? Or would that be too confusing to have different moderators called different names?
thunderdancer
09-22-2004, 02:36 AM
I'm still with Guardians.
I'm not different or special anything and I don't want to be implied as such - like CC says we are all equal - moderators just do a bit of 'care taking' here and there.
I'm not toooo sure about 'Care Takers' tho - but thats only coz it reminds me of men in brown coats who used to clean the school loos LOL When I see past my connotations I like it...
Care Taker hmmmmm taking care of things :)
Guardian or Garden Guardian.... mmmmm :)

Hi AJ! I like "bloom"......thanks for the idea and welcome! Congrats on the perserverance to try for 2 years and finally get there!
Well, if only the Moderators were "blooms", that means that we don't all get to bloom.. :( and I'm Blooming...really, I am!
I like the expanding of the idea of Tending the Garden, Tenders, Guardians, Gardeners, Caretakers, Care Givers and the like (Kristi, Gardeners don't have to know everything...they just have to care and give the attention and nurturing, and that's what the Moderators do...Green Thumbs not required! )

Lol CC you're so cute! That is a good point about the blooming thing though. Caretakers or care givers reminds me of someone working in a nursing home....I think it's a great idea I just wish I wouln't have this image when I hear the word. I think guardian is cool because it reminds me of someone watching over someone else and being there for them when they need help which is kind of like what the moderators do.

Ok, if "blooms" intends that most of us won't be blooming unless we become a moderator, then how about "pollinators"? Like busy bees pollinating the plants that are growing. Without bees, plants won't bloom. :D

Thanks NWgal :D
I was about to say we are ALL blooms, I love it but yes we ALL are.
ALISSA we need some thoughts!! ;)
So who else like's GUARDIAN? (sounds a bit like garden :))
And ALissa can people change into blooms please? :D
Oh just saw pollinators - thats cool - busy bees hehehe

How's about Forester? A forester is a guardian of the forest, too! Just my two cents. I also like Tree and LOVE the Tolkien references! My cats are Arwen and Strider! LOL! :p

I'd like very much to be called Aragorn :D ;)
Hi Sharon!!
Or Allanon.... anyone read the Shanarra series?? Druids rock!
Kristi
09-24-2004, 05:07 PM
Wow, with all these wonderful ideas and equal wonderful reasons to rule the same things out.......maybe we should stick with Moderators. I really don't feel I've been doing much more than anyone else. I usually feel I'm learning more than I'm giving. Thanks to all of you for that!

The Sword of Shannara? Wow be a long time since I read those books, great though. :)
Ever read any Robert Jordan? Wheel of Time series, he is up to book 8 or 9 I think and believe there is going to be 12 in the series.

Hi back at you, Thunder! Yes, I almost called him Aragorn, but thought it would be a harder name to call him by. Strider fits him. I also like Caretaker. The more I thought about the new name thing, being a public relations person, I realized that most people who use the 'net and these kinds of groups, know the term "moderator." So they might not "get it" if we use something else, like forester or guardian or whatever. Just more of my two cents!
Have a great week everyone!
Sharon :D

I have come to the same conclusion about the moderator name being more recognizable. I dont think anyone will know what we are talking about if we start saying we are Aragorn, keepers of the forest (my personal favorite ;) ), or guardian, etc... soooo... sorry to have you all wrack your brains, but i think we should keep moderators for now.... unless you are all totally apposed to that :(
