View Full Version : My Restaurant...

Well, Im not going to do it.

I was waiting to announce it because some of the energy is still there so im thinking that I may do something around it but here’s the scoop…
We rented that space. Really wanted to buy but since it was a great location we did it.

The landlord turned out to be crazy. We signed a lease with option to buy. Well, I came back from Italy 2 weeks later and the locks were changed and he was building out the space. Really bizarre. Found out he is mentally disturbed.

So… we found a place, through the grapevine. It was a full scale restaurant with a full liquor license and bar, tons of space, etc… great real estate property. We made an offer, they took it and when we went to sign the p&s they called that morning and had an excuse and backed out. So, the energy has been so strange around it. I had Jhosie out here for a few days and everything else was falling into place. But all this stuff blew up around the space. I had to step back and wonder why… those of you who know me, know that when I decide to do something I make it happen or if the energy is off and It starts to go another way, I follow the energy. So I stepped back. I talked to Dennis who was enraged and running around like crazy to put this deal together. I realized I was making him crazed about it all and he didn’t want to do it. He was only doing it for me. It was going to be massive amounts of work which I don’t even have the time for right now. I started to realize I don’t want to do it, I just really want a place to hang out. Really, and, I think my ego was involved, not in a bad way… I have some really great ideas for it and I saw it being a huge success but was it what I wanted to do? I don’t know. So I had to step away. It was interesting that when I let it go they called and wanted us to buy the building again. I think it was the universe telling me to slow down and think about it since I go 100 miles an hour sometimes. So, im relived. I think its still going to happen though in a different way. Maybe ill open it, be a silent partner and have someone use my name and ideas. Im feeling like it’s a better fit and its funny im coming into contact with some people who can actually create that with me.

There is so much im doing now. My life is so rich and full and im blessed with being able to travel tons right now and buying real estate and setting up some amazing programs for people to help with their raw journeys.
Im also coming out with my own dehydrator that, by the way, is going to blow you guys away!!! I'll fill you in soon but its going to be ten times better then what’s out there now!

Im also setting up a members only site that will have tons of info, you’ll be able to watch full videos of food and working out, get printouts of plans and it will be interactive based on your own needs. Ill keep you posted on that as well as its goign to take a few months to just put it together.

And… the most exciting… ive become good friends with that producer ive told some of you about. He is the one who’s wife found my book. He has produced the show, Rebel billionaire with Richard Branson, Real World and other reality shows. He is working with the food network and other stations and is determined to get me a show. So, although you never know with this kind of thing and im not exactly sitting around waiting for it to happen, it’s the most exciting thing to me! Just think - I could have you all in the audience at my cooking show! What fun!!! Lots of other little things on the horizon as well but that’s the jist of it.

Thanks so much for asking about the restaurant. Ive been meaning to post something about it but just haven’t had a minute to write it all out. So im glad I just did! I wanted to let you all know what’s going on here as well and all the great things to come. Who knows what tomorrow will bring. Knowing me, I could actually decide to open a restaurant or move or …. Fill in the blank. That’s what’s so fun about living raw!

Alissa, you are smart to "follow the energy!"

Listening to your inner voice is the best advice you'll get.

Personally, I think rather than a restaurant, you should open a healing center. Employ some of your best trained people to cook and serve raw meals, employ some massage therapists (have them work as contractors), have yoga, peace and quiet.. maybe even a silent retreat...low key.. a place to rejuvenate and heal .... have space for exercise and saunas and ....

If you do it, can I come work there too?
I can cook and clean. I'm a fantastic secretary/admin person.
I've traveled all over the world. No kids or hubbie.. free as a bird...

Send me an application! ::laughing:::

Open it in Cinque Terra, Italy!

Yes, Alissa, I agree with Rowan, you are wise to follow the energy... but I must admit, I am disappointed. I've been telling so many people and even have a few people getting together to attend the Grand Opening!! I totally understand, though, Alissa and know that you will do great things by following the promptings of the Spirit and of your heart. I wish you much love and happiness. You've done so much for so many people; you are a true healer. Many rich blessings as you're led to your next venture!

I'll be looking for you at the Portsmouth Health Food Store!! Have a great trip to Israel and come home safe!

Alissa,
You can never go wrong by listening to your gut (so to speak... what a weird expression).
I was going to go to continue school two semesters ago and the weirdest things kept happening... nothing was going right! I had way too many problems. Turns out I ended up moving.. first out of county.. then out of state two months later! All for the better. Thank God I listened to my gut and didn't go. Too many red flags - deffinantly signs.

So many good things are happening to you and many more to come I'm sure. You deserve it all - you have done wonderful things for a lot of people. Myself included! You seem to have that golden touch!

By the way - I can't wait to see what this dehydrator is all about! I knew I was waiting to upgrade for a reason!

...the "universe" is amazing. I am also in agreement about "the energy". Thank you so much for sharing all of this with us:) I deeply feel that you will still do something similar if not exact to what you started out.

I know that I am not the only one longing for a FN show centered on RAW. I vocalize it often, maybe the "universe" will hear;) It would be beyond wonderful to see that happen.

Looking forward to hearing more about this new dehydrator. And the members only site also sounds very interesting.

Agreed!! I finished reading it just now...still blinking.

Thanks so much for those words. I knew it was the right choice when there was this exhale after a few days of deciding not to do it.

AND, then Dennis said that he absolutely didn’t want to do it but would do it for me. Those of you who have ever been in that business know what its like. He would have been there ALL the time since he is a perfectionist when we do things. Poor guy, i almost tortured him! :o

Well.... i bought 23 acres of land way up in Maine, almost into Canada. its right near the ocean. its all covered with wild Maine blueberries. i have no idea why i bought it! felt like the right thing to do last year. hmmmmm....a retreat center. lol! ya, its in the plans. not something im jumping to do but there are a few people im working with now who are wanting a place like that. Elaine, my co-teacher for the programs we are doing has run multi million dollar retreat centers. gee, you think something moved me to get that land? lol! ok, rowan, ill keep you posted! its not Italy though! That’s were Dennis wants to move to. im not ready for that though!

Oh yeah, the dehydrator is going to be incredible!! I cant wait to announce it but im holding off because these things always take longer then expected. I have a hard time being on someone else time schedule! But they are doing a great job with it.
Its actually one of my teachers who has put this whole engineering thing together. That’s his background. So he is working with a team on it now.
Just a little preview: its going to have electronic temp and timer, it will be much sturdier and not made from plastic but stainless steel. It will be in colors, I think. ( Actually I may do a poll on what colors people want soon). It will open like a door so you don’t have to take the top off and put it anywhere. It will be whisper quite. The temp will be controlled much better then some of the ones out there. It will have a clear door to see your food through… hmmmm, what else.. I think I forget a few things but its going to be great!
Ill let you know as soon as I know more details.

Im SO exited about the new site. Cant say too much as im just starting to work on it but ill definitely fill you in more on that as well.

Oh yeah, its funny, I always open my mouth first and tell every single person I know that im doing this and that, etc.. I really believe that’s actually how I make things happen. I put so much energy out for it that it just starts to happen by itself from all the buzz and energy created from it.

Once in a while I decide not to do the thing I just broadcasted so I have to write long letters like that one explaining why. LoL. But I never feel bad love when things like this happen! It’s fascinating to me. It’s always weird when you don’t know why at that moment its happening but I always know the reason will show up later. I never have regrets or thoughts of it ‘not working’. I think it all works perfectly all the time. It is what it is and then you move on and do what comes next. And there is so much next. Whooo hooo!!! That’s one of the books ill write some day…. oh yeah, writing another book, that’s the other thing ill do soon! HA! If I can sit my #$@ down long enough to do it!

Thanks for being interested in whats coming next. Its so much fun sharing with you guys cause you ‘get it’!

Wow, ya, what a story Rowan!

Oh and ya, I am bummed since I told everyone and their mother. Im still wanting a place here to eat at and already starting to try to convince someone else to do it!

I didn't want to take the focus from your thread. I realize my story is pretty incredible and when I thought about it, I figured others probably have incredible stories too... so I made another thread.

I laughed when I read you were talking someone ELSE into opening the restaurant!
WAY TO GO GIRL!

Also... I wanted to thank you for the updated index to your book. It is SO much more user friendly! YAY!:D

THANKS!

Alissa,
I admire you for many reasons. One being, you are not afraid to change or be creative. I can't wait to read the "rest of the story" but knowing it's actually the next chapter of your life. Sounds exciting to me and I am celebrating with your visions. Best to you.

...okay.

-stainless steel
-whisper quite
-electronic temp/timer
-better controlled temp
-will open like a door
-clear door

...whatever else there is for this new dehydrator, I'm sold!

And given the way in which this creation came about...the positive ripple effect continues;)

Im sure ill wake up to lots of fun stuff. Haven’t been on the board this long in almost 2 years i think! whoooo my fingers hurt from typing.

Ok so Jhosie won't be moving to mMaine, at least not just yet.

How's her journey going?
Does she post here or blog somewhere?

Is she one of your cerified teachers?

Loved her spirit and success on tyra, her story resonated well with me. So I'm hoping for the best and would like an update on her progress. I was definately inspired:D

Wow do you have energy lol Alyssa. Like all the others said, you have to listen to what your inner voice is saying. It's not the end of the world if you don't open a restaurant and anyway, I like the idea of a healing center even better lol. I want to come, don't know how I would manage to do that, but I definitely would want to come. Especially if it's near the ocean, I am drawn to the ocean. The dehydrater that you are working on sounds great!

We have been trying to get a Raw Food Program in our juice bar and it's been hard trying to plan it all. It's hard trying to figure out three days in advance for some recipes. I want to supply people with food for the day and they can come in the morning and pick it up. But it just hasn't come together for us.

We are also finding it difficult to find supplier of organic food to deliver. And I realized I need way more money to do this. So we gotta hold off.

People are asking me what I am doing cause my husband and I are losing tons of weight and look awesome. After reading "Green For Life"... I have decided to start selling Green Smoothies and get people started with those

It's so exciting...everyone is really interested in what we are doing cause they see how great we look and feel. It's such a great feeling to be helping people. I can't wait till we can have a full on Raw Restaurant and Juice Bar with the Raw Food Program.

I wanted to also say..that I found cups and other things like straws, containers and even utensils made from corn that are fully bio-degradeable!! When I can afford to switch to them I am going to. I just wish big companies like Starbucks, who can afford to do it, would use them. Just think of all the waste from their plastic cups. So Alissa...if you ever decide to do take out..or anything in a disposable cup...try those corn cups. They are actually not much more expensive than the others. I am just in my first year of business (the really broke stage :p )

Rawk on !!

I think it is best to go with your gut feelings. The time is not right now, but perhaps some other day. It will simply lead you down another road. It seems like you have some cool things coming up. A cooking show would be so great!
I have always wished that there would be a "real" healthly cooking show. So I wish you all the luck. I am glad I have found your site.

Hopefully I can find Rowan's story somewhere. I'm intrigued by the responses to that post which is now moved...

Anyway, I wanted to reply to Alissa. I just got on this board finally and playing catch up. I totally admire the way you put yourself out there, Alissa. Not everyone would do that and I think it's part of your "heroic journey." I love seeing the energy that you have and the way you try all kinds of things and see what works and what doesn't. It's all good. Thank you for the inspiration it brings to others.

Take good care,

Alissa when I heard about the B&B concept I instantly thought "raw retreat center". The new land sounds beautiful! Funny how things call to you.

I'm very glad you are heeding the universe when it comes to the restaurant and not forcing it...better things to come, right? I always knew we'd see you on the Food Network someday...thinking good thoughts.

...and I also now know why I can't seem to find a dehydrator I like...you hadn't invented it yet. I can't WAIT! Will you be using ParaFlexx in the trays?

Have fun traveling....

omg, I love the food network! Alissa, I'm actually such a nerd for that show that I've told my fiance tim we should see if we can visit the food network studios! haha.... Rachel Ray and Sandra Lee and Mario can't spell his last name Vitali are so great but Alton Brown is my favorite..

I can just imagine you in the studio with all these people!!! I"m going to send positive vibes into the universe for this to come to reality if it is meant to be!

Alissa I have to admit I'm disappointed as well that your restaurant will not be, but I know how well the universe works and the signs were definately there for you not to proceed. Our anniversary is in August and we were going to re-visit Bar Harbor as we are celebrating our 10th, and stop by on the way.
I'm in Nova Scotia Canada and when you said Northern Maine you must be close to New Brunswick.
I love the wild blueberries and just made your pie out of frozen. Now I have to tell you, along with the poster who asked if you needed a secretary....my husband is a lead carpenter and looking to start his own business. So if you need someone to BUILD your dream in Maine.......we are actually very close.
And I would move anywhere for his dream as he did so for me.

Hello! I think buying real estate for the restaurant may be a good.

I had this kind of dream with a retreat w/real estate, but I dont have a plan. It just up in the air. When I am raw, I think alot.
