who turn their lives around with raw foods.

I commend those people who went from a meat and potato diet to a vegan one. What a big committment to better health.

I was already a vegetarian, so becoming a vegan didn't make me that much weirder ;) But geez, I remember when I met my ex (before I was a vegan) and he was. I always wondered what he ate. Lots of tofu, salads, beans, and grains. Such heavy food. I'm so glad I got turned on to raw. Fruits and Veggies contain so much life. Their colors are just beautiful and craftily mix that paint a pretty picture. Plus they leave me feeler lighter, happier, and glowing.

Carry on with your raw selves. Just sharing some random thoughts. :D

Hear, hear!

Funny thing happened. When we were on our trip, as I've posted elsewhere, I was tempted by sad food and even ordered some. But...

when I ordered pizza, I did so without cheese (always do) and then added a TON of hand picked toppings - all fresh veggies, fruit. I wound up picking off the toppings and leaving the rest.

when I ordered a salad with some scallops, I picked at it... then found myself stealing DH's guacamole and enchilada fillings from his plate. Eventually he just passed it over to me.

I crave the lighter stuff now. I'm not 100% yet - not sure if/when I will be - but it's amazing to see that in just a matter of weeks (since 1/5), my entire approach to food has shifted. I really love the expression eat to live. Makes total sense.

Oh this'll become a great thread!

Only mid January my transition was made. I had only been a vegetarian for 9 months. Now I cannot imagine polluting my body any longer. Evertime I walk past a bakery or a fast food place and the smell is wafting around me all I think is how awful I used to feel when I gave into temptation.
The only Sad thing I have craved since I started was potato chips (and that was today) so I went to make some mock cheese in the food processor.

I am so happy to have found raw. Everyone here should be proud of themselves (and eachother!!!!!( :D

Here is my story:

Nearly a year ago I stumbled up a book called Fit For Life. I had gotten their Vegetarian cookbook and was curious where the title came from. The book talks about proper food combinding, eating fruit only before noon, and eating 70% raw foods. I took what I got from Fit For Life and was working towards better health. I gave up coffee, I was feeling great.

And then a letter came to me in Thailand from Missy (Misty Mountain on here). She caught me up on her life and told me about raw foods. I thought I would give it a try. Nearly a year later, I'm still living a raw food lifestyle. It's been an amazing journey here. There are times where I eat rice, but I don't ever eat any dairy, meat, refined sugar, caffeine, processed foods. I am a vegan (although I hate the title).

I feel incredible. I glow. People who haven't seen me in awhile comment on how good I look. They say Thailand did me well. Little do they know that it was the fresh fruits and veggies that I feed my body that is doing it.

I don't have a food dehydrator. I don't think I ever will. I'd rather eat a carrot than see it undergo unnecessary heat. It's just as good. shredded carrots, fresh coconut meat, honey, and chopped dates makes a nice dessert. I do sometimes consume corn and pumpkin that have been boiled and once in a while impress a visiting friend with my thai cooking skills. There is even a raw foods cafe in Bangkok. Among the raw pizza, egg plant, and sun burger, I choose a salad.

I don't have a raw foods book. I just eat raw fruits and veggies and can see the drastic difference it has made.

Fit for Life is what got me into eating more raw too!! I read it about 10 years ago. I followed the food combining regime and it was hard at first. Did that for a few years to get my body used to it (I was a huge cereal and milk consumer!). But it paid off. I was in and out of the doctors sick like crazy only to be diagnoised with irritable bowel syndrome because they couldn't figure it out. After doing fruit in the morning and veggies and a properly combined meal in the evenings, I am totally fine. It's been about 7 years now I have been sick free. I got the cookbook for Fit For Life at the Goodwill for a few bucks. I like their juice and smoothie recipes. :p

Yeah, the cookbook was lent to me from someone who also got it at Goodwill. I was like "what is fit for life kitchen" so I googled it and found the book. My dad got it for me at a second hand book store and sent it to me in Thailand. I read it and passed it on to a friend.
