I have had a Black and Decker food processor for the last 15 years and it worked great. Well, it quit working.
So, I decided to go all out and buy a Kitchen Aid for $200. It has a wide mouth and three different bowls to use.
Anyways, I don't like it very much. It is fine for pates but I am struggling with making other things in it.
For instance, when I try to make the banana ice cream like I used to all the time in my other one this one just doesn't do it. I was wondering if anyone knows what to do to make it work. This one turns it into an airy cream. It is kind of whipped. It takes so long to get it to blend it all up. It is disgusting.
Even when I try to make banana leather which is just blended up bananas it takes forever. When I finally figure it is done, it still has chunks in it. :( This is with stopping and stirring it several times.
It just seems to keep blending up the things on the bottom but the rest just sits on top spinning around and around.
Anyone else have these problems with theirs?
Thanks!

Unfortunately, I cannot take this back. I bought it online. I called them shortly after I used it and they said they have a 30 day money back policy on unused items.
I knew I should have listened to Alissa and others about getting the cheaper Hamilton Beach one. Ugghhh!
I am going to have to play with this quite a bit to try and get it to work.
Thanks ladies!!

My food processor makes the airy cream out of bananas also, but I love it. It's kind of a mousse rather than an ice cream, but it's delicious!
Edit: It's the osterizer attachment.

Consider selling it on eBay. Since it was only used once, you can get a higher bid on it, then use the money you make to get a different FP. I have a CuisineArt (the big one and the mini one) and I use them constantly.

I too love my Cuisinart FP I bought at Costco. Save receipt and they are good for returns years later. Receipt is the key!

Ohh So sorry you are having problems adjusting to your Kitchen Aid. I have one and wouldn't trade it for nothing. I love the Kitchen Aid.
The e-bay suggestion was a good one. If it weren't for other priorities right now I would gladly have bought it from you so you could get what you want.

Thanks Ntombi! I like it for most things. I am just trying to figure out how to do the other things that aren't coming out as well.
Have you ever made the banana ice cream in it? How does it come out for you? Do you add liquid to it etc?
Thanks

I'm of the "love KitchenAid" crowd too... I actually have 4 of their appliances sitting on my countertop right now. I have the stand mixer, food processor, standard blender and pro-line blender... and I LOVE them all!
I've made nut butters, a variety of pates and burger mixes, and the banana ice cream in my processor and they all turn out well. I guess I'm not entirely sure how the banana ice cream comes out if you feed it through a juicer, but I've always been pleased with how mine came out via the FP. I just let it whirl away for a while.... it takes a bit for it to go from chunks (and reallllly noisy) to kind of granular to whipped smoooth and fluffy.
*shrugs* What else have you had problems with? Maybe the KitchenAid owners can do some brainstorming with you. :D

If and when mine gives out, I'll hightail it over to Goodwill.
I love those older machines. They're stronger, do a better job, and have more personality! Plus, then you're creating less garbage for the landfills!:D

I have a Cuisinart, bought from Costco, just love it.
I tried about 5 different ones before I settled on the Cuisinart, if you go to high end stores, they will test them for you, or demonstrate them, and then you can decide which one works for you, or you can always try a friend's one.
I think you could sell it on ebay and even if you lose some money on it, it's better than losing the whole $200, and still being unhappy with your purchase.
I'd get the one you want
