My name is Morning, I'm from Oregon. I've known about raw for about a year b/c my old roommate used to go between raw and SAD all the time. At that time I was about 85% raw for around 2 months and felt amazing. I was smoking then and naturally just lost the desire for cigarettes, coffee and candy. I started to go back to SAD eating and smoking and everything because I would go out with friends and drink and not care about what I ate. I was lonely and miserable and extremely down on myself and I got myself into a big rut.
Going back to raw has been in the back of my mind constantly since I learned about it, but I haven't been following it that well. I can be really hard on myself,knowing what I want to do and never following through with it, and my self- image suffers terribly. About a month ago, I went back to about 80% raw for about 2 weeks and hadn't had a cigarette in 1 week, but I was wearing a nicotine patch. Again I started to feel amazing and my desire to stop smoking started to go away. I've been going back and forth and I'm sick of it!!!
I've been reading almost daily on this site but never really participating much. I've been getting more and more passionate about going all for it again and staying that way and I'm finally ready! Unfortunately, I don't have a juicer or a dehydrator or any equipment so I just usually take whole fruits/ veggies to work and eat them like that. It's simple, and easy to remind yourself to keep at but you get bored a little easier.
I've decided to start back up tomorrow morning (I'm about to go to bed now). And what do you know, tomorrow is Valentine's day so I see it as nurturing my love for myself by starting new again. (I'm weird about what day I start things...I want to be able to look back and remember the date I started).
I've decided that for this first week I am going to commit to eating only fruits and drinking only water, juice, or green tea. And I'm starting my nicotine patch tomorrow again. I just have to get past the first temptations in the morning like a cup of coffee and a cigarette. After this first week I'll work back into fruits and veggies. I'm confident that, like before, my desire for nicotine in general will fade and I won't even have to use the patches.
I'm excited! I want to say thank you to everyone on this site for being so helpful and pro- active! Remember every day that your passion for this lifestyle really shines on others and reminds them to do what is best for them..mentally, emotionally and physically. Shoot, I've only been about 80% raw and not even all the time and I've had people at work start to eat more fruits and veggies b/c of the attitude I show at work!
I'll be checking back in. I'm more serious than I have ever been about improving my life...my health, my emotions and my love for self!
