My name is Jody, I live in Richmond, VA - been in VA for 6years - Richmond for 1.5 ... Originally from Minnesota and our plan is to move back in 3years ( DH is from VA ) I have 1 child, Caden who turned two in November :)
hmm lets see -
I've been here reading for the past 2 wks, I'll just say I came very intriqued and interested in the RAW lifestyle when I too saw Alissa on Tyra!
I quickly jotted down her name ( as I had never heard of her before ) came to her website and started to drool over the beautiful foods pictured, then found my way here to the forum and kept browsing, reading, learning, getting excited!
I have upped my veggie and fruit intake incredibly over the past 2weeks and working on that 100% raw thing ;) its pretty close. I'll tell you the $$ Ive dished out these 2 weeks on groceries has about killed me. Im hoping that once I stop trying some new things that it will become cheaper! I suppose it also goes along with the fact that I feel like I have to buy for 3 different menus .. my son is about 75% on my menu though but doesnt want to take to all the fruit or veggies Ive offered and would rather have the crackers, or animal cookie - LOVES his yogurt and I think that will stay as is - hes a big milk drinker well 2-3 8oz glasses a day otherwise he drinks water. Ive tried to give him rice, soy, almond milk but he wont take it - I do like those and if I had drank milk in the past it usually is one of those ( otherwise dairy for me came in the form of yogurt or cheese )
I'm also doing this for my son- hoping to give him the right tools to make the right discisions with foods. I have battled with weight and food all my life. ( I just started my first ever blog 3days ago and wrote a bit about me , and what Ive done the past 3days if youd like to read - link in my siggy ) Im usually a very private person when it comes to my body, but I feel like I need to do this ( the blog ) in order to feel more accountable to myself, and others.
My husband is not on board, which when dinner time comes around thats when I get faced with more of a challenge, and tend to slide off a bit of the raw style.
I am patiently waiting for the tax return to deposit so I can order Alissa's book and dvd along with hopefully the excalibur ... I also think Im going to go the Jack Lalanne Healthmaster route since its $200 cheaper and that for me fits better with my budget ( trying to get the most bang for the buck with my portion of the return we are going to "blow" SO I want to be as smart as possible! )
Im hoping when the book comes and I can put some foods together maybe present some dinners that are raw, instead of me doing my own thing, trying to do something for my son as well ( hes not too easy to feed sometimes lol ) and then doing something else for hubby - it can be a pain! More so with the voices in my head!! haha
Im trying to learn what all do I *really* need to get this to work
I have a blender - typical one, but no matter what button you push it seems to do the same thing lol
I have a juiceman jr juicer I found at the thrift store for $15 2wks ago
thats it lol
So I know I need to get the "tools of the trade" asap!!
Well a not so short intro - but Im thrilled to be here, excited about my journey Ive taken on! And hope to become an active, participating, learning member of the community!
:)
