Hello everyone. I just have a quick questions. Is raw agave nectar good for you, like as in should I only have it every once in a while as a treat, or is it ok to have a little in my smoothy to make it taste dessert like (yum yum omg yum). I just ask cuz my roomie said it's probibly exactly as bad for you as table sugar, I tried to tell him it's not but then I realised I didn't know much about it. Thanks

I put it in my smoothie every day twice a day! I feel no side effects from it at all. I used to have hypoglycemia and it doesn't effect me. I prefer the taste of agave nector to honey. I hate the after-taste of honey.

Haha, me too on the honey thing, which is why I am excited that I like agave :D Thanks for responding!

That's the problem with "probably." Your roommate meant well, but this is easy to research online, so you'll be able to see that agave is in fact just fine for you. In fact, it's used by diabetics for its low glycemic index. Mesquite is used for the same thing. :)

From what I understand, raw agave nectar is lower on the glycemic index than honey or sugar, so you don't get those wild blood sugar swings with it.
