I'd like to start supplementing with a green powder, but all of the "High rated" ones I've seen are so expensive.

Does anyone have any high-quality green superfood supplement recommendations that don't cost more than $10-$20?

Thanks!

(I heard that E3Live was a GREAT product, but it costs about $35 per bottle, and I just can't afford that :( )

Smilingkyle,

Those powders, while I'm sure full of great things, aren't anything that you can't get from eating enough greens in your diet. Kale, collards, all dark leafy greens, and sea veggies are amazing sources of the same things those expensive powders have in them. Chlorophyll is one of the best things you can put in your system and you can get that from greens. Read Victoria Boutenko's book Green for Life and it'll tell you everything you need to know. :)

i tried green smoothies for a couple of days but they just aren't so appetizing to me. maybe it's because of the color? they didn't taste so bad when i was putting 1/2 apple and half spinach. is there a way to ease into green smoothies? i'm going to go make one now and try it again.

Lauralee,

Try using collards, kale, and mangos. If it tastes odd, add more fruit. Tonya Zavasta made us collards and mango in her class and it was fantastic. Just experiment with it, keep tasting it in the blender. Also, making sure you despine your greens (collards and kale) is important, or you'll get annoying fibrous stuff in your drink. :)

I would suggest starting with a really mild green like baby spinach...and add maybe 1 leaf of kale. I also add 1-2 frozen bananas, and about 1 cup of fruit....and then if it still isn't sweet enough, a squirt of sweetner like honey or agave. My kids really like it this way, and adding the extra fruit is SOOO worth is to me, if they eat all the green with it! :D
Good luck.
Oh yeah...hallelujah acres has a "barley green" powder. I think you can get the smaller jar for just under $30. Their product is high quality, organic, and raw! Try www.hacres.com

I looked up the barleymax. 4.2 oz. for $23.95. Go to the website, and look at the right side for "shop online" (I think)
The site is pretty easy to navigate. Good luck.
