Hey everyone!

My name is Gabriella, and I recently made the decision to go raw! I'm excited as I think this will be a vital step toward ridding my body of toxins. I hope it will be a beneficial decision for my athletic training, as I hope to complete a marathon by next fall.

Any ideas for a great start to eating raw? I am going grocery shopping tonight and I plan on purchasing raw nuts, different organic leafy greens, a variety of fruits, and lentils.

Thanks for this great forum!

First off - buy Alissa's book. Filled with great info!
Green smoothies. Simple as
2 cups filtered water
1 banana
1 orange (insides)
handful of greens - such as spinach and such.
Whip up in a powerful blender and there you go!

Welcome!!!

When you start out raw, the body often craves denser foods, so on top of buying the foods mentioned in your previous post, you could always buy one or more of these:

*dried fruit (figs, dates, ...)
*nuts and seeds
*tahini is good (made of sesame seeds and oil)
*butters (almond, cashew, coconut...)
*oils (coconut, olive..)

Anyways, there are tons more, but these are ONLY suggestions!

HAppy hunting and welcome again!

Welcome!! I second the recommendation to get Alissa's book... it really is the most comprehensive, explanatory one out there far as I know. So worth it when starting out!!
