I found this site which has raw macadamias for 4.00 a lb. in a 5 lb. sampler. I was wondering if anyone has bought from them before and could speak to the quality/service. The rest of the prices for nuts, oils etc. are great too....

thanks..... :)

Wow at $4.00 a pound that is a give away. You can't go wrong. At Good Foods, I pay $16.99 a pound for raw macadademias. Thanks for the information, I will be checking it out!

With shipping I figured it will be $6.00 a pound - still a give away!

I just checked it out and .... WOW! What a great deal! I'm going to deffinantly get some as well as the nut butter. Maybe even some of the dried strawberries :D
Thanks for the tip! I probably won't order them for a week or so (still waiting for my debit card from the bank  )

Hi Elizabeth thanks for the links. I was looking at they dried fruit. But sadly it has Cane Sugar added, I am trying to give up sugar.

I am glad you all like the site... :) I have a little time today..and am trying to get my order(s) in..so I have the stuff all at hand when the cravings hit.. :-)

I think I am going to get 5 lbs. of the Macs....yummmm.. and see how they are. I was thinking of the strawberries too...but maybe not if they have sugar....(I wonder if it is a lot of sugar..or just a little ..lol)

I was a bit nervous about how you pay through pay-pal.rather than on the site... but, I guess through paypal you can get refunds if there is a problem with the product or delivery..so maybe that is a good thing...

blessings.....

I have found these guys to be a good and economical 'direct-from-the-source' of wet, in-shell macadamia nuts. My experiences with them have been very good.

palpal is a great way to order whatever u need. I wish all sites used them. I feel it is safer.
Thanks for the site. I am just starting out and trying to get some of the items I can have is kind of expensive so this is going to help a lot.

My order came and I keep tasting them and then comparing to my other macs. LOL.... there is a difference and I am not sure to what I should attribute it. I am sure they will be fine in recipes..but, for plain snacking..I like my other ones from the HFS better....

I was wondering if anyone else ordered some, and if so, what they thought...

I ordered and just received the 5 pound sampler of macadamias! I can't believe how many nuts it actually is!! I got 2 giant bags of beautiful macadamias, so good! Probably would have paid $90.00 at my healthfood market I shop at. :D :)

I just got these and boy they were fast! They seem to taste fine but I was surprised to see them packaged in ziploc bags. Almost like someone was selling them out of their home or something. O well it was still a heck of a deal! I have been waiting for them to try Alissa's crepes. Hopefully I can find some time in my schedule to try them soon.

You've got to question how the dried fruits are dried. From www.nutsonline.com they told me they are heat dried - HIGH heat dried. So just a word of caution.

Has anyone inquired to see if they are truly organic and raw?

Anyone know how long they hold up and how to store?

I'm going to see if I can split cost with someone local and save on shipping too. This is one way they can make money and we can save. It's a win win either way but even if I have to pay the price and my own shipping sounds good. Will have to check into this later. Off I go. Thanks Elizabeth for sharing.

I freeze nuts that I don't use right away. Or at least put them in the fridge.

I think she was selling them from out of the home..and that is possibly why she uses paypal. The funny thing is that I started my juice fast today..lol..so I have 5 lbs. of Macs.. If there is someone in the East who is interested in buying some..lol...I can go into business. Or..I will freeze them..

BTW, they are raw..I do not recall if they are organic, I do not think they are organic, esp. for that price. I do not eat all organic, especially things with shells, although I try to eat certain things only if organically grown, i.e. greens, strawberries and apples,
since I know that conventionally grown versions of these things are very high in pesticide residue..

enjoy your macs!!!
:D

...this was their response:

Hi Lucy,
The Macadamia nuts are raw. They are not certified organic, but have been grown with no pesticides or chemical fertilizers. This can be seen from some imperfections on the nuts. The only heating process used is during the drying of the in shell nuts, by blowing warm air, (90-100 degrees), over them.
Prices can be kept low as we bring in 35000 lb containers for our processor customers. This is the first time we have been able to keep back a few cases to sell direct. Also the exchange rate with South Africa is favorable, and South Africa has favored nation status with the US, so there are no duties. Hope this helps.

How long did it take y'all to get them? I put my order in June 4 and am still waiting. Called the company, got an answering machine. (Maybe it's lunchtime there and EVERYone takes off).

Thanks!

You might want to wait before ordering. No one's answering the phone and it's been over 2 weeks since I ordered.

My shipment was returned damaged and just went out again ~ today. I'll receive it next Tuesday.

I got mine last week and was so excited, but somehow, I don't really like them  :( ???
I used some in a crust recipe and that went down fine but for snacking they don't work....
I think it is just me and not what I need right now as my toddler has eaten a lot (polished off a bowl of extra crust by himself) and he usually doesn't eat the nut parts (crusts) at all!!

Does anyone else find them too strong? Maybe I just need a good recipe?
Any suggestions? I made a raw sour cream and didn't like it :o

I always make the crepes with just all cashews, no macs. Can't afford 'em...

They DID come in a week or so.

I ordered macs and some sundried tomatoes and the dried strawberries (which apparently are all covered in sugar. Ick. Not sure what to do with those.) The box came with the nuts and strawberries but not sundried tomatoes. Called, got no answer. Emailed three days ago. No response still.

And the macs are ok enough to use until they're gone, but they don't have the same FRESH yummy taste and they're not as sweet as the raw macs I got in a regular grocery store.

I've learned this lesson before: You get what you pay for.
