Confused about how to use dehydrator

Hi, I just received my dehydrator in the mail. It's a L'Equip. I want to make flax crackers and I am so confused as to what to put the flax mixture on. I see the mesh liners. It doesn't make sense to put the mixture on them. I also received two white tray-type thingies. They look like very thick styrofoam. I assumed they are to catch drippings and to be put at the bottom of the dehydrator where the motor is. Do I need to buy some parchment paper or something to be able to spread the mixture on it??? I'd say measure the trays and see what size Teflex sheets Alissa has to fit. Also, could they maybe be cut to fit? You need the plastic (for lack of a better word) sheets for fruit leathers and such.
