:)
Good morning!!
Until my book and dvd arrives I'm so excited and want to try everything all at once.
Some of the more "exotic" fruits and veggies I"ve never tried cause I had no idea what to do with them or how to prepare them.
What are your absolute favorite fruits and veggies and how do you eat or prepare them. Keeping it simple. Thanks

For an exotic veggie, try a cherimoya. They are delicious.
But for favorite fruits and veggies, I just eat them plain most of the time. A fresh pineapple is a decadent, juicy treat. Fresh Medjool dates are like caramel candies.
Other fruits I like:
Tomatoes and cucumbers chopped up, squeeze some lime over them. Yum.
Pears of many descriptions, just eaten as is.
I love the recipes in Alissa's book, and have used many of them. However, don't underestimate the beauty and simplicity of just eating raw food as is. No "how to prepare" is necessary, really. Just eat and enjoy while you wait for the book and dvd (which you will love).
:)
p.s. I notice you too, are in Nova Scotia! :D Welcome!

I live in Timberlea (outskirts of Halifax), and I'm the only raw foodist I know in real life :)

I love a fruit salad made with strawberries, blueberries, oranges and bananas. I also love eating a salad made with romaine lettuce, tomatoes, celery and green onion.

Thanks everyone!! I just finished the kale avo salad with grape tomatoes. Kale sure is "meatier" as someone else said. Not sure if its my fav but its filling and if you let it wilt gets easier to chew LOL
Arriannah I'm in Bridgewater....do you shop at Pete's Frutique? I sure wish someone in Canada would sell Dehydrators.

I go to the Pete's downtown in Halifax.
I have a dehydrator that I paid $200 US plus shipping of $54 US, and I'd be willing to part with it for $225 Canadian
It's a gently used Excalibur Dehydrator with 9 trays and temperature control. Includes 9 teflex sheets.
Interested?
My only issue is we don't have a car. We would have to rely on you to pick it up if you drive.

Ariannah I often come to the city shopping and would be interested.
Just curious why you are selling?

I'm selling it because I don't need it. I don't eat as many dehydrated things as I thought I would, so it just sits here in my kitchen. I'm more into fresh fruits and veggies, and occasionally nuts.
It's in great shape, as I only used it for a short time. I had been hoping someone nearby would express an interest in one, so if you want to work out details, send me an e-mail to ariannah at gmail dot com :)

You know, I find myself wanting all these tasty treats from Alissa's book. I make them up, and put them in the fridge after eating a serving of it.
An hour later, I'm in the kitchen grabbing a banana, pear, or other fruit.
I think the food tastes good, it's just that I am oddly uninterested in it after only a week on raw foods.
Yet... my dh is not raw, so all of his foods smell really good to me. Here I sit wanting a dehydrator so bad so that I can make "un"cooked foods... but on the other hand, I wonder if I'll just say, "oh, yay, pizza... where'd those bananas go??"
