There is a new product on the market, at least in KC, and I wondered if you all thought it was raw. The website isn't functional yet, but when it is, it'll be http://www.playfood.org. I didn't buy any products, so here are the ingredients from memory:

raw cashews (organic)
nutritional yeast
pectin
pink salt

Bah! I don't remember what else. I called them, and asked, and they said they were raw. I didn't know where pectin stood as far as raw is concerned.

nutritional yeast is not raw, and most pectin isn't either, although some is,

so........ I have to say, MAYBE! LOL

I know, a fat lot of good THAT does you.

However, if they told you they were raw, then ask them if they are heated or any part of them, or any ingredients in them are heated above 115 degrees, most places will not be able to give you an anwer on this, but if they can and they are not heated above 115 degrees, then they are raw.

YAH!

If I'm not mistaken, this company is the brainstorm of one of the actors that played one of the sons (the youngest one - I can't recall his name) on the tv show "Home Improvement." I read about it a few months ago. He claims to be raw.

Froma fansite...
TARAN NOAH SMITH has had an exciting life so far. He grew up on the hit television show "Home Improvement". One of the nation's youngest licensed airplane pilots. Went to Oklahoma City at his own expense and without cameras pr reporters to bring aid and comfort to the victims of the April 19,1995 Oklahoma City terrorist blast. Found true love at seventeen . He still loves acting but has found other things that warm his heart in addition. Last we heard he is married and living in LA and the proud owner of a Vegan Restaurant and a furniture design business as well.

Off topic, but Taran Noah Smith moved out of Lawrence, KS? Boo. That was my trivia. And if he's living in LA, it's strange that Play Foods was his brain child since it's based in Parkville, MO.

Interesting. Wonder why the pectin is used? I wouldn't think it is raw but I'm no expert.
