Hello to all,

I recently tried "Amy & Brian's Coconut Juice" and am very confused. It says that is is pure juice, without anything added, but fails to say anything about pasteurization. Is this raw? Is it good for you? I did a google search and couldn't come up with anything about the company. Obviously fresh coconut juice will always be better than something that is preserved, but its availability is somewhat luring...

Thanks for any input you may have!

Peace and Love,

Marlena

Are you able to buy any young thai coconuts in your location?
Generally but not always if it's in a metal can it has some type of perservative added to it so it won't taste like metal - like sodium benzate, propylene glycol - used to assorb water and extend life of the flavors - yuk
But since I've never heard of your brand, can't really say ya or nay about them.
Buying the real thing beats the other ones hands down. :D

Anything that has been canned is not raw. Most likely, the coconut juice was pasteurized.

There are raw packaged brands but not in the U.S...some Asian markets do the cutting and gutting for you...if you have one nearby ask about it. Thai restaurants also have this if you call ahead...

Amy and Brian's is probably pasturized (heated) as it is in a sanitary style can...but to be sure you'd have to track them down...aren't they overseas?

they are based out of california. i think it would be better just to keep buying regular coconuts when available rather than the juice. i might do more research though. thanks for all of your input!
