I'm a fairly new raw foodie...I love fruit but when I eat it for breakfast, I feel like I haven't really eaten anything. In other words, it doesn't seem to rev my metabolism. Any suggestions for other good breakfast ideas would be appreciated!

In the wild, gorillas will eat large amounts of bananas at once. I recommend eating around 6 bananas, or as many as there are in the group of them, and then over 40 almonds.

I like fruit too, but if you need more try Raw Granola and Almond Milk.

If you check out our recipes section and perhaps do a search for "breakfast" or "breakfast ideas" or "grawnola" you will find recipes and ideas for other things. You could soak/sprout/and dehydrate (or not dehydrate but dehydrating makes it really crunchy) some buckwheat groats, and like Rawfigure said, have a bowl of that in nut milk with maybe some cinnamon, agave (or other sweetener), raisins, nuts, etc.

Oh I LOVE raw breakfasts, they are the BEST meals

I like fresh squeezed orange juice, and tons of fresh fruits, especially pineapple and mango and oranges and berries of all kinds.

I also like sun tea, made with fresh herbs, especially mint or camomile, I also like fresh pancakes or flat breads with home made jams.

these are some of my favorite recipes.

the best jam

Expoding raspberry jam

1/2 cup fresh raspberries
1/2 cup dark raisins

blend in food processor until well blended but still chunky

allow to sit in the frige for at least a day, this will allow it to thicken up

this is the best jam in the world, if you really want it o be exploding add a dash of cayenne pepper to it, YUMMY!!!

the best breakfast drink

1 cup orange juice
1/2 cup fresh pineapple
1/2 cup fresh mango

blend in Vita Mix, add 1 cup ice,

blend again,

drink, mmmmmmmmmm

Hi there.
I thought all raw foodist juiced for breakfast. Anyway, I juice as many veggies and greens as I can and sip on them till noon for an ultra clean bowel.
On the weekends, I like to make something different. Try this awesome porridge recipe, from Serene Alison's cookbook Rejuvenate Your Life:
The night before, soak oat groats in purified water. The next morning, drain the groats and put them in the blender with a bit of purified water, a few bananas, a bit of nutmeg, a few dates, and if you want, even a little coconut oil. Top with almond milk and chopped bananas and strawberries, if you want.
Happy Eating!

I am a BIG fan of green smoothies. Kale or spinach and whatever fruit I have in the kitchen. My 16 yr old has been juicing most mornings(non green) for at least a month or more. And eating about 50% raw....And her BM's were still hard......Last week I started her on GREEN smoothies....That did it. :)

Great ideas. Wow, jam too! Thanks RP.

green drinks answers constipation foes:
My daughter and her friends all have babies. Two mothers were complaining about their kids not having bowel movements. Someone suggested green drink as my grandbaby drinks from Coscto. This was the trick to get the bowels going.

It has to be the roughage that these kids are not getting and with the aid of the green drinks or homemade smoothies it just does the trick. I wonder if there is a drug for kid's constipation problems. There's a drug for everything so I assume I am right here.

Going to start a constipation topic now for others to join in.

How do you make raw granola?
