Hi, about 10 months ago I had my wisdom teeth taken out. I had a lot of problems with one side of my mouth for the next few months. It frequently got reinfected because of tooth chips still left in the tooth hole that was trying to heal over the chips.
I haven't had any problems with it for about 6 months, until now.
I've been playing with raw for about 2 months, usually staying 80-90 percent raw. A week ago I started experiencing tooth pains again in that same spot as before. I'm wondering whether this is a coincidence, or if it might be my body trying to heal itself because it wasn't done properly before.
Has anything like this happened to anyone else... (old, old pains reemerging)?
Thanks for the support
Katie
ps. any advice for when I go to the orthodontist and they tell me to go on antibiotics? I absolutely hate the thought of polluting my body with them, and before I heard about raw, they basically had me living on antibiotics all summer to try to fix my teeth infections. scary...

Hey. I havn't had major reoccuring things surface again except tendonitus and scars from major surgery on my abdomen. I think it's called retracing. As for the antibiotics...I would say no and let your body have a chance to heal, but others may come and suggest the use and then detox after.

Yep! It's been called "retracing" - sometimes old ailments will resurface to, as you said, heal properly especially if medications were used to surpress the symptoms. I used to get chronic yeast infections and of course, used things such as Monistat and when I first went raw, those infections came back with a vengence but cleared up eventually.
As for antibiotics, if you must get them for your procedures, having a raw diet will aid your body in ridding of them out of your system quicker and I've also read that it's good to get some good probiotics also in order to restore the good flora that the antibiotics may kill.

i had a piece of glass in my foot for 3 years, i thought i had gotten it out, but then the same spot started to bother me again, and then voila, the piece of glass "fell" out...so crazy how the body heals itself, i love it!
i would say give it time, let it remove itself. i am against medications, and would suggest clove oil...i know, here i go again with the oils...

I bet there's still some bone chips in there, and they're working their way out.
If you do anything, rather than go to ortho, try oil pulling for a week or so.
I also had a horrible time with one of my wisdom teeth. In fact, the ENTIRE OFFICE at the place I got it pulled had to come in and help with it.
A while later, I started lifting weights instead of the usual "girlie routine" and a week later, it started hurting badly. I couldn't get an appointment for two weeks... as I was waiting, one day I was eating, and a piece of tooth bone protruded out of my gum.
About 3 days later, it fell out, and I started to heal. I didn't bother to take the antibiotics (I hate them). I was just fine.
There's a thread on oil pulling in the "other health" forum.

Hey thanks for the comments. This stuff is so interesting!
Nimmanu... what exactly is oil pulling?
Wow, bodies are amazing when you don't interfere with their purpose...

I had my wisdom teeth removed about a year ago and I found rinsing my mouth out with wheatgrass sped up the healing process. Maybe this could help whatever retracing thing is happening with you?
