Hi everyone,
Just wanted to quickly introduce myself. I’m pretty new to the raw food world, received Alissa’s book a week ago and have read it three times already, and am so glad I found this forum. It’s been a super big help to me so far…but I am hoping to find a raw food buddy near my area. I live in Calgary (Canada) and travel a lot to the Okanagan, so either area would be sweet! My husband is a typical redneck-meat-and-potatoes kinda guy and our families don’t seem that interested in changing their habits (I’m working on it though!). Habit-changing to them would be having corn instead of peas…haha! Just thought it would be nice to have an additional support system. Anyways, enough babbling – please let me know if you live near my area and are interested in a raw food buddy!

SuRAWpr that was fast...a RAW Buddie already and in the same City..
Yes this Forum is the Greatest place and I am Excited you found us also.
Change does come, sometimes it might be slow, but it will come. Glad you are being patient with the redmeat and potatoes part of your Family. Just add a little more Salads, Salsa, use RAW whenever you can and serve it in courses like the Restaraunts.
I know how you can read that Book 3 times....you can almost eat it up because that is how Hungry for the Knowledge you are.
I wish you everything you need to Stay RAW.....Welcome to MY World......

I'm from the East Coast (NB), but I almost moved to Calgary last year. When I was planning to move I remember finding at least one vegan group that had occasional raw food potlucks.
Here's a website for a Calgary raw food coach, who also runs a "raw food support group" potluck.

Good Morning All of you beautiful people,
I am in Fort McMurray, Alberta. Tommorrow i will be going 100% raw, hopefully for the rest of my life, but i am definetly going to get the 30 days. I have been trying since September to get this solid but for some reason i am giving into my cravings. I am getting very annoyed that i am giving in and i am going to do this!!! The crazy thing is when i am cooking for my kids and i think i really want the food i am cooking, i taste it and it is not even close to as good as i thought it would be!! :o I need to make this commitment to all of you so that i am not just saying this to myself.!
I hope everyone has a great day!
Allison ;)

Hi Moonpie,
Welcome!!
I am in a town just outside of Edmonton, but from Calgary, and still go there regularly.
My husband and I both went raw overnight after reading Alyssa's book. I have not had one slip since the day I went raw on May 10, 2006.
We'd love to get together with all you raw foodist Calgarians!
Truthfully - we'd LOVE to open a raw restaurant in Calgary. That is definitly one of our dreams. Another one would be moving to California, because it's warmer, and foods we like grow year round there. We'd save a lot of money on groceries!
Anyways, welcome! :)

Hi RawSun,
Thanks for the greeting :)
That would be too cool if we could have a raw-foodie-get-together in Calgary!!
I too, have been thinking a lot lately about Calgary needing a raw food restaurant - it's definitely time. I think we have had the name "Cowtown" for long enough...times are a changin' baby! (lol)
Anywho, please keep in touch if your dreams come true - I wish you luck!!
