I love my wife. Thank you honey for turning me on to RAW!!! I can't wait for you to get home so we can snuggle and I can rub your back.

Now on to the results of my first week!

First, I learned a few years back that food is fuel. And when working out, one wants high octane fuel. Well, I have to say it feels to me that RAW is ROCKET FUEL for the body!!!

What I was eating before was pretty healthy. Cooked mixed veggies w/ chicken was my main staple during the week. But for whatever reason, I still got up to 240-245 still eating clean except for the weekends. When I work out with this diet, I would maintain body mass, but just move the fat mass to muscle mass, with 226, 216, and 206 as plateaus.

First day RAW!: I noticed my joints feel lubricated. My hair feels better. I start to have more energy.

By the third day RAW!: I had so much energy that I would wake up and be wide awake and can't go back to sleep! Joints still feel really wonderfully lubricated and I would just walk around doing the "hug myself stretch".

The first weekend SAD!: We went to Sam's Club and of course they had all the samples. I grabbed a soup one first and it tasted like dish-water! YUCK! Then I felt queasy and light headed. But I soldiered on to sample more. By the time we got out of Sam's Club, I was gagging at the thought or smell of bread. My wonderful wife bought a pretzel, and when we got in the car I was gagging really bad at the smell that I had to roll down the windows in 20 degree weather!

On Sunday we went to a pizza buffet and I had 2 huge salads along with some pizza. We both came out of there feeling so bad that we could hardly move. Gag-effect in full force! And we really didn't eat much more than was comfortable - and for me, it felt like I hardly ate a thing! We walked around some and looked at things. I remember my wife asking me about something we looked at, and I couldn't even picture it in my head. It was like my mind went into orbit and I was only able to do basic things - thinking was not one of them! She asked me a question, and I asked her to repeat it because my brain went on vacation. So by the time we got home, we were hungry again. I immediately went RAW and felt so much better after having a RAW salad.

So what is the result of one week of RAW to me? I am now 231 lbs! Down about 10 lbs from a pretty healthy before diet.

Now I'm going to start another round of Power 90 (http://power90.com), because having this much energy shouldn't be kept bottled up!

Thank you for sharing ... it is awesome that you have each other for support ... that goes a long way.

Isn't it interesting how, after eating raw, going back to what you were eating, that you thought was healthy, your body is showing you that it really isn't.

Our bodies are amazing! Keep on RAWking! :)

What I was eating before was pretty healthy. Cooked mixed veggies w/ chicken was my main staple during the week.

isn't it funny how what most people think of as healthy really isn't?

I was eating chicken, salmon, rice, coucous, lots of cheese and bread, cereal and soymilk, ice cream, and the only veggies I ever used to get before going raw came out of a can.. you know, the three that everyone eats? corn, green beans, and peas.

and then of course I was eating out a lot (2 times a week *at least*) and at restaurants they give you HUGE portions... and here I was thinking I was eating pretty healthy.

good luck.. sounds like you are super excited and off to a good start!! I hope you didn't forget to give your wife that back rub! lol. ;)

Mr. 2....I think it's sooo sweet that the "2" of you are here "2"gether! ;) I sure wish MY DH would get onboard!! What made you decide to go RAW? My DH is a HUGE meat and potato eater....and no desire to even TRY to be healthier (at least he tries to convince me of that, but I think he's just afraid I will try to push him into raw, but I would NEVER do that!)
Anyway, congrats on discovering RAW, and doing it together!!

I think the thing that really motivated me was Alissa's DVD. Watching her "cook" all those wonderful recipes made me think that it wasn't so bad. And I know that fruits/veggies/nuts are the healthiest one can eat, just that I never ran across or thought that whole dishes could be made with them!

REMEMBER GIRLS: Guys are visually oriented! Sometimes they have to see it before they will try it.

One of my many, many talents is cooking, or bringing flavors together that taste awesome. Just don't always look at the food before tasting. :p It may be totally gross to the eye, but very nice to the tongue! I've already come up with a guacamole that tastes like it has sour cream in it. Awesome on the nori wraps! I wasn't so hot about the plain avocado on the nori wrap.

Not sure I mentioned this, but I've done a full round of P90 and didn't loose a pound, but I lost like 6" from my waist alone! Don't you hate guys?

and then of course I was eating out a lot (2 times a week *at least*) and at restaurants they give you HUGE portions... and here I was thinking I was eating pretty healthy. OMG!!! Yes! The portions are soooo huge compared to what one really needs to eat! I'm pretty much on automatic mode anymore to get the doggie bag right away and toss half of my meal in it. That way it is out of sight, out of mind! Either that or split with the wife. :)

I HATE canned veggies/fruit. It just doesn't taste right (feel like I'm eating a can), and they put a lot of salt in it too.

haha... I think I'm going to cover my body in fresh fruits and veggies then for my fiance and see if I can convert him! lol. *Imagines where to put the melons* ;)

Well, see my BF generally stays out of the kitchen when I'm cooking...that's MY area so he'll never see what the dish looks like as i'm prepping it. i'm an awesome SAD cook and have slowly but surely been weaning us off the steaks, heavy dishes, and bread items (cakes, pastries).
Well, he mentioned soemthing about it the other day, saying he wanted a huge steak. I've been switching to fish and chicken and incorporating more fruits and vegetables into our diets. of course, i can't "police" him during the day...he eats junk food most of the time.
Also since he used to be a body builder, he is of the mindset that a human's best protien source comes from chicken and tuna...not leafy greens.
SOOOOOOOOoooo...I will show him tonight your comments on week one of going RAW.

Thanx for your posting!

Linky: Power 90 (http://power90.com) Part of the BeachBody.com (http://www.beachbody.com) lineup.

Everyone is different, but some rules I will go by are:

#1 - drink lots of water. The new minimum is 48oz, but you drink until your pee is pretty clear. I've noticed that I'm more thirsty, so drinking more water.

#2 - you do need fat in your diet. It is needed for some of the compounds in it to break down the other foods. Just remember: too much of a good thing is bad.

#3 - eat lots and lots of veggies. Or fruits. Berries are probably better for loosing weight. I don't think eating fruit alone will cause one to gain weight due to the fact that it has fiber in it, and that slows down sugar absorption. And they contain complicated sugars (compared to processed sugar).

#4 - eating SAD will make you.... SAD! RAW is an all or nothing affair, at least to start. You can loose with some SAD foods, but not as much as going totally RAW.

#5 - eat when hungry, stop when not. Listen to your body. I have taken bits of my salad and just put it back in my lunch bag. I had some earlier and it was awesome, but my body no longer wanted salad.

I'm type O and lost around 10lbs my first week eating totally RAW except for the couple of meals on the weekend. I eat about as much veggies as I do fruit. Nuts is about 10% of veggies and fruit combined. I do have 1-2 avocado a day too.
