fermented pineapple?

my pineapple (yuuuum!) this morning was a little more...um....zippy? than usual. If a pineapple starts to ferment a little, is it still okay to eat? Or should it be (sadly) tossed?

If a pineapple is fermenting, it's normally visible on the outside as mold. (Yeast is also a fungus, but doesn't make hyphae.) If part of it has gone bad, cut the rest up and freeze it for smoothies. I've eaten pineapple that's started to ferment with no ill effects.

I had an interesting experience with some slightly off pineapple when I was (much) younger: it invloved a lot of time in the bathroom and some hallucinations about the armies involved in the second world war. Throw it away. :)
