Water does it for me.
Drinking water and using water to clean your outer body. If your new to raw maybe take a bath daily just to clean your skin of detox. Or take a dry sponge and rub it over your skin. Remove makeup before bed and drink drink drink!!! :p

Hello,
My acne improved dramatically just eating raw.

i had acne when i was in high school and my mom made me go to the dermatologist, i took everything they had at the time...and finally the evil drug that is accutane, which finally cleared it up...for a few years anyway.
now that i'm an adult (30s) i get acne on my chin, jaw and neck, especially during my mensus. BUT i haven't had any since i've been raw (3 mo.) and yes drink tons of water, at least your body weight in ozs. per day.
your skin is your 3rd kidney so you may want to do a small liver/kidney cleanse, but remember to listen to your body on this if you haven't done one before...the symptoms (acne) may get worse before it gets better, the cleanse will pull everything out...
i am a fanatic about Young Living Essential Oils. it is suggested for acne to use: tea tree, geranium, vetiver, blue cypress, lavender, patchouli, german or roman chamomile, rosewood, cedarwood, eucalyptus radiata, orange, clove, melrose, thieves, gentle baby, purification, juvaflex or juvacleanse. you can find these on their website, along with other supplements at www.youngliving.com i recommend only the young living oils because of their amazing healing abilities as well as the process and high quality they use!
if you (or anyone else) have any other questions or comments feel free to email me at merfie@hotmail.com i will also be able to give you my member number if you wish to order the oils.
best of life, merfie

Keep using your clay. The clay sucks impacted oil that has lodged itself into your pores and oxidized (blackheads :) ) Don't be discouraged if you seem to be seeing an increase in breakouts at first - either when using clay or becoming raw - it's the impurities working themselves out of your skin.
Something to note about using clay on your face - once it is dry, it's no longer working. So either spritz a mist over it from a spray bottle to keep it moist or wash it off after it's dry. Otherwise it will just dry your skin out if left on the skin after it hardens.

I agree on drinking a lot of water, keep using clay, eat healthy, and essential oils do work great! Also eating a wide variety of food, and staying balanced! And lovely exercise! Get sweating!

Funny?! I was going to use the Aztec Healing Clay later tonight! It's just bentonite...but I don't need a 50 pound bag from the garden shop!
I also use Alpha Hydrox Oil Free Gel if there is a flare up...works overnight...haven't had one in ages though.

Ohh man drinking water is very hard for me a i just really can't seem to get it down but lately i'v been puting lemon and agave in it and it's helping.
i will keep using the clay, as for oils my mom uses "Young Living" i put the clay on first then after it dries wash it off and put Lavender and then before i go to bed i put Animal Scents and Thyme over top of that i know Animal Scents is for animals but does wonders for the skin but my sister got my tooked on it.
I finally got the messageTONS OF WATER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanx for that site Lodestar. I been on that 3-day raw vege fast for 2 days now and the results are amazing. I couldn't believe it at first. AWESOME!
I went through a few of the other articles at that site and it all makes sense. PH BALANCE!
I been eating garbage my whole life. LETS GO RAW!
I keep lookin at myself in the mirror lol. Excited much? :p
That site for anyone who missed Lodestar's post is http://www.myacnereview.com/ and make sure you start with the "the first step" entry for the raw vege fast.
My 15 yo old daughter has been 100% raw for 4 days and her acne is almost cleared up already.

Every one I have started to speak to about this who has gone raw is telling me they saw the same results. The active pimples were gone within days and the blemishes and scars faded and diminished over just a matter of weeks.
Why didn't I hear about this sooner? I'm gonna be telling everyone I can to go RAW from now on and I'm gonna do some research as to what else going RAW can do.

So what veggies did you eat in particular?
thanks for your help

I personally used mainly cucumbers because they're cheap, there's no preparation, and I love the way they taste. I must have had like 10-15 per day. And now that I'm done with the fast I'm still eating like 4-5 a day for snacks.
I also had salads with tomatoes, cucumber, celery, parsely, lettuce.
I think the main thing is just to have raw plants. Fruits are not as effective because of the sugar content but with vegetables the greener it is the better is for your pH level.
I think it has something to do with the chlorophyl, which is extremely alkalizing for the body.
FYI: I been measuring my pH levels and surprise surprise the diet is making it get closer and closer to 7 (neutral).

Wow! Yes, PH balance sounds very effective. I would also think, eating good food, and cleaning out the toxins, which probably results in PH balance anyway!
An alkaline body is great for health, and ESPECIALLY when you are trying to heal!

I think your right startootsie it is probably impossible to heal when your PH is not balanced, and just eating very healthy food is good too. thankx for all of the advice everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Carrot juice.

Yeh that's the idea. Raw vegetables are the single greatest way to alkalize your body. So by eating healthy in general and cleansing your body of toxins you will almost automatically have a good pH level.
Oh and luckitri brings up a good point. If you juice your vegetables your body can absorb them much more readily. The digestive system is designed to absorb nutrients from fluids anyway so you can fast track the absorbtion of those nutrients by juicing your veges.
I probably wouldn't use too much carrot juice though. It's good for, yes, but has one of the (if not THE) highest levels of sugar than any other vegetable.

I am looking forward to seeing if doing a totally raw diet will clear the acne. So far, I am about 50-80% raw daily and there has been no change at all in my adult acne (I'm 34-I've had acne for 10 years). I only break-out on my chin and occasionally the sides of my face up near the hairline (like sideburn area). I always have at least one pimple on my face, if not 3-4, and they stay red long after they should have disappeared. I will see if going 100% raw helps.
Additionally, I have heard about a laser treatment that dermatologists do which is very expensive, but apparently effective. It is supposed to clear acne and get rid of the pockmark scarrs, which sounds like a godsend! If anyone has done this treatment, I would love to hear about it.
In the meantime, I will eat my raw foods and be patient!

RainbowAngel,
You've gotten great suggestions...
Water, lots and LOTS of it, along with fresh raw foods, especially veggies, is key.
Do you drink green smoothies, because, not only are they going to speed up the acne process, they will flush out your system faster and improve your overall health. Word of advice though, start with one a day..let your system get used to it.
Steaming your face is also a good way of eliminating acne... Boil some water, put in a bowl, and then bring your face close to it, put a towel in between your face and the bowl, and relax there for 5 to 10 minutes, making sure not to burn your face. rinse with cold water, and then you can apply your bentonite clay. Your pores will then be very clean and will absorb the clay better!
Good luck! hope this helps!

Thank rawOichid, yah i eat green smoothies occasionally but if you think it will work i will eat more of them, and as well as make the acne better the green smoothies are also good for everything else in the body!
and i like the steaming idea that could really open the pores!
and lilylola just like rawOchid said and i'v experienced this too, veggies are wonderful for -not just the skin but the whole body.
Thank you,
Peace

have you tried doing sauna therapy too? saunas are great for detoxing and cleaning out the skin.
if you are having difficulty with keeping up a high water intake, go into the sauna and you will NEED water from all the sweating.

When I use this recipe my skin is better almost immediately. BTW, drinking raw apple cider vinegar is also helpful, a TBSP in water morning and evening. Also chamomile tea, internally and externally - I make mine STRONG and after about two days of drinking it constantly my skin is clearer.
Mix 1/4 cup brown sugar, 2-3 TBSP raw honey, and 2-3 TBSP of raw apple cider vinegar in a bowl. Pull back all your hair from your face as this gets messy. Dampen your skin gently with warm water, then take a handful of the mixture and gently rub your face with it for a minute or so. Rinse really well with tepid water, pat your face dry, then follow with an astringent - an excellent one for clearing acne is hydrogen peroxide (avoid putting it on the eyebrows though!). It can sting if you have an open sore, but it does wonders in fading acne scars and helping clear up any infected pimples. Follow with a light, preferably organic moisturizer.
You can do this a couple times a week, and when my acne gets bad I have been known to use the hydrogen peroxide alone more than once a day, though it can get drying.
If you're not opposed to using eggs, take an organic, free-range egg white and smear it over your face BEFORE doing the scrub. I no longer do this (it has started to gross me out) but it can help.

I use the 3 day vegetable fast to get rid of acne whenever it comes up but I find it difficult to eat all vegetables all the time. I usually need something more substantial to last me through 3-4 hours of work before my break so I usually eat salad rolls and once every fortnight or so ill urge meet. I can go without meat for months but i usually feel more energised after I have some. Any advice?

Don't be discouraged if you seem to be seeing an increase in breakouts at first - either when using clay or becoming raw - it's the impurities working themselves out of your skin.
I've been doing the green smoothies and 80% raw for the last few days to try and cure my acne (after eating a rubbishy diet) and my skin has gone a bit crazy and broken out loads.
So thanks for the tip - I'm finding it a bit hard to motivate to keep going as my skin is looking so much worse, but I'm hopeful that the detox symptoms will stop soon and my skin will look better. I have been worried though about the amount of fruit I am using in my green smoothies possibly contributing to my spots getting worse - need to add the fruit to balance the taste of the greens though, as I don't think I could stomach them on their own!

I get the pimples on the forehead too and this is what I do to keep them away:
Cucumber juice
MSM
Probiotic
Water
Balancing tea
Maca
And just eat raw! When I was very high raw they went away completely. Now I'm back on 50% cooked and it's an active struggle to keep them away.

For me, eating 100% raw has cleared my acne. I've been raw for a few years now and it only comes back if I slip and have something cooked...and it DOES come back as soon as I eat something cooked. For those of you doing 50-80%, this may be the final factor for you. You may not get totally clear until you go 100% raw. ACV has also helped me. I don't take it all the time, but I do put it on my salad for dressing, so I have a little daily either way. :)
