I hope this isn't off-topic..
I can't believe this happened!!! I was making a pear-berry smoothie this morning, and while the blender was going - full speed - smoothie came *flying* out the bottom, like a geyser. I thought, "What the!!!..." then realized the base vibrated loose from the container and unscrewed itself.
The result: Purple berry-colored smoothie splattered up the wall & machine-gunned all over my small appliances. Also, a huge, thick lake had formed across the counter. I was so horrified!... then I had to laugh... you shoulda seen me picking it up with a spatula and drinking it. (Slurpin it up didn't cut it!)
Anyone had a similar experience?

It sounds like something out of a slapstick movie!

Yeah, but I have no excuse for mine. :o
I was making frosting for the torte... and there was nothing happening, so I stuck a spatula in there to just sort of push a date or two into the little whirly-gigs. Well, the date went into the whirly-gigs and came FLYING out.
Stuff went all over the counter. All over the cabinets above. All over me. I'm not sure there was anything in the near vicinity that wasn't splattered....

The exact same thing happened to a green smoothie I made last week.
I triple checked that everything was tightened before I started making it, too!

That's absolutely classic. Does the color work for your decor? ;)

Gosh, how funny. I remember my cooked split pea pressure cooker experience years back. The hole on the pressure cooker clogged and there went all the split pea soup on my ceiling--no kididng clogged and still hit the "roof-ceiling." What a mess to clean up. Oh, yes, it went every which other way too. Sometimes a good laugh is a good thing.

Ha ha, me too. I was making a green smoothie and I poured it into a shaker cup after and then realized I forget to put my hemp protein in, so I put the lid on the cup and very very whole heartedly was shaking the and the lid popped off, the ceiling, my self, my hair, the floor and my cat were all covered in green smoothie... What a sight!!

Not sure if you were asking me or not, but purple doesn't go with a lot of things here. We do have earthen, woodsy decor, so I guess it wasn't too bad. It sure was one horrific mess! I even got my golden retriever to help.. being the pig she is, she's only too glad to oblige - normally. But, this was up on the counter and she's a 4-legged food vac (on floors, that is) so no luck there. I picked her up, but no go. Hard to believe, but her fear of heights overcame her great love for sumptuous feasting.

I have seen the blender trying to to unscrew itself many a time and stopped it...now I will be all the more vigilant!
I'm glad you can laugh at this! :D

yeh, Ive had more blending disastors than Ive had hot dinners(no pun intd :) )
Although more to do with taste than anythingelse. Not smoothies or nut milks(all yum) But boy Ive concocted some vile combo's in my blender using veggies trying to make raw sauces.
I had a friend staying with me at the time - and he just used to roll about laughing as I tossed every attempt in the garbage! So no, your not alone there! :D

I had a kitchen nightmare 2 weeks ago today, but mine wasn't as funny! I was changing out the slicing part on a mandolin so I could make zucchini spaghetti and it popped out and my thumb went right down on the blade! I had to have surgery to repair the tendon in my thumb I cut and I'm typing this with just my left hand! Be careful!

Oh yes! I've spent many an afternoon cleaning fruit smoothies off of every concievable surface in the kitchen! It's a raw rite of passage! Consider yourself initiated!! :-)
All the best,

Ooh, I hope your ok! Those things are ultra-sharp, aren't they. I always take extra care cleaning mine and have still gotten some small slices carved out of me.
As to the smoothie bath, I am sure it's good for your skin! :D

That is too funny!
I had a similar - not to the extreme - happen. In my smoothie I had my spigot turned ON when I added my (at that time - preraw) choc. soy milk! YIKES!!!!
And my two little furry girls (Emma and Heidi - wire-haired, short, smooth-haired mini Dachshund respectively) wouldn't have cared about height, but I couldn't let them lick that up. It was chocolate.
Once before getting to know my VM better, I made some almond (chocolate) mylk and wanted to get the chocolate splatter on the lid? Yep, you guessed it. I poured some of the mylk into the lid, thinking I'm gonna swirl it around and get all that good chocolate. Well, hello? Dummy me. The lid even w/the plastic cap on isn't leakproof! Once again the girl couldn't have that, so I licked it, almost! I've gotten to know my appliances much better.
We learn from our mistakes... ;)
