Hi,
We're newbies to RAW and just wanted to know if frozen organic fruit can be used in the diet or not? Thanks. :o

Sure ... fresh is best yet frozen works. I have bananas and cranberries in the freezer right now that I use in smoothies :D

I use frozen organic berries because I cannot get organic berries where I live. Berries have a high level of pesticides when not organic-& since I use them daily in my smoothies, I find the frozen ones to be superb! :)

My freezer is always busting with frozen fruits....saves many a day when I can make a smoothie in 2 minutes...have fun with the variety you'll find!
I eat Trader Joe's frozen organic blueberries in my green smoothies daily! Make sure there aren't additives - check the ingredients list.

I don't (personally) regard it as vital as fresh raw fruits / vegetables - but if it helps you, then I support you 100%. Remember that there are no raw food police....and no play-by-the-numbers rule book! :)

I like to buy fresh and freeze if need be and use them up fairly quickly. I don't like my fruits frozen for too long. I used to work in a fruit and vegetable factory and we froze food and they were not heated but something about frozen veggies sitting in ice for so long didn't seem all that fresh to me. To each his own but nothing beats heading to the market or store and buying fresh daily. If you have the time and money that is! :o

I love frozen fruit smoothies! I buy a pineapple and some bananas and cut the pineapple in chunks and peel the bananas and freeze them all. I find smoothies are best when they're about 3/4 frozen. I also buy frozen wild blueberries and some other fruits that I can't get here fresh.

what is your opinion on frozen veggies, though, being that most of them are blanched first? I like the frozen peas...but they are not truly raw, right???
Email the company and ask. Trader Joe's blueberries are not blanched first!

I am a big fan of frozen things. I mean for a start I always hated food when it was hot even when I ate cooked food. But my theory is that anything that we crave, that helps us live will kill us if we don't limit it (not moderation, I mean actual limitation).
For example, there are many studies on a plethora of animal species (from fruit flies to monkeys) that shows that calorie limitation improves life span by a staggering 40%. And some science students once told me as they came out of the relevant lecture (I forget the theoretical explanation) that the reason we die of old age is oxygen. Which is why the Nepalese are so fit. If they had the same wealth, medical facilities and ease of mind as we do in the west, I don't doubt that their life expectancy would be greater than ours. As for limiting sex. Well that is a work in progress ;) ! But seriously, studies show that the more sexual partners you have or the earlier you started having sex, there greater chance there is of developing cancers such as cervical cancers.
Now the other thing the id craves, is heat. Which is why the cold is best in my book. Whether it is a cold shower or a frozen fruit.
