If you eat some raw nuts that you didn't soak does that mean it doesn't count in the raw food plan? I hope this isn't silly. But it seems like some recipies call for soaked nuts, some don't, and I'm a little confused. Could soaked nuts taste good just as a snack if you just want some nuts? The reason I ask is yesterday was my frist day of 100% raw but I forgot about soaking nuts, so I'm wondering if it's blown and now doesn't count. They all said raw organic on the packages so... Thanks

No. As long as it is raw it still counts.

soaking the nuts activates their enzymes ... if you don't it's not a problem, if you do you get *more* for your money :D

When you soak nuts they get water logged and can cause a recipe to be more runny, which is why (imo) some recipes don't have you soak them.

Once I soaked a whole bag of them and then dehydrated them to use in those recipes that don't call for soaking ... since they've been soaked the enzymes have been activated yet they are dried so they won't add moisture to the recipe.

I like almonds that have been soaked and dehydrated. There is a little "pocket" in them that *pops* when you bite on it :D

ohmigosh are you serious? That sounds like a delicacy out of Enid Blyton's Faraway Tree stories. I must get a dehydrator.

When the almonds are soaked they start to germinate so they open a little on the inside, preparing to sprout (I understand that you won't *sprout* an almond) ... when I first went raw and I read about soaking I was just eating the wet nuts ... then I read about dehydrating them so I started soaking them for 24 hrs and then adding some seasoning and dehydrating them ... so yummy. People at work are always wondering what I'm eating and they want to taste ... they like the nuts too ... lol ... :D

My son (23 and still lives with me) has been eating more plant-based and he takes 3 small salads and some fruit and almonds to work with him ... I have to make another trip to Costco to get more nuts! :D

Hey Sienna.

Trust me, they don't taste like pop biscuits. :D Just like almonds.

That said, the dehydrator is REALLY fabulous (imo). I made some 'sundried' tomatoes and some crackers today, and having crackers and dips really makes life pleasant!!! I'm thrilled.
