Hello might be a dump question.;) But how do you freeze bananas? Do you freeze them whole or cut up? And do you use freezer paper or freezer bags. Last time I tried storing bananas they were a mess, plus they stuck together. Any help would be appreciated.
P.S. On a more yucky side, does bananas cause gas? I know TMI, but all the family seams to have gas on bananas, anyway to prepare the bananas so you don't have gas? Thanks again.

Hi, peel the bananas and put them in ziploc bags. They will stick together so you can either seperate them into individual use bags, for example if you use 3 bananas in your smoothie put 3 bananas in one ziploc.Or you can just take the bag out of the freezer, they thaw very quickly and from there just pull off what you need and return rest to freezer.

As far as the gas, it may be just your body making an adjustment to the bananas, if you are coming off SAD certainly don't stop eating them, give it a little more time. Are you mixing the bananas with greens? If so it is more likely the greens.

Good luck!

Yes, peel! If you don't peel them first it is rather difficult to get the skins off...

I peel mine, and then cut them into little chunks. Put them in a heavy duty plastic freezer ziplock, and lay them flat in the freezer so they freeze individually and don't stick together. I use them constantly for smoothies. :)

Thank you Mpf and Apasaraw, RawVee. I think I will peel them and cut them in chunks as suggested. Also we just eat the Bananas plain, I will give them a week. Thanks again

Here's a great trick. Peel the bananas then cut into pieces (I usually make them 1-2 inches long... enough to drop in the blender.) I then place them on a plate, make sure they are NOT touching and freeze for about an hour (or more). Then transfer them from the plate to a ziplock. They should be frozen enough now that they won't stick and you can just take out the pieces you need for your smoothies.

I peeled mine. Broke them up in 3's so my blender won't struggle so much when I go to use them. I froze them as is in a zipper freeze baggy.
