I am wondering if anyone out there has any stories to share of how eating raw helped them with their teeth. I have many thousands of dollars worth of work needing to be done on my teeth and I am hoping they won't get worse while we slowly get things done. Any hope for me out there? Bueller? Bueller?

:) My teeth and gums use to give me fits, all the swelling and my teeth would seem to be getting lose and shifting but lately with the help of some COq 10 gum spray and using treetea oil and a mostly raw diet i doing much, much better.
Also i have some small cavities and they seem to have stopped growing, odd but i'm hoping they will go away.
Hope this help.

Yes my teeth and gums are much healthier raw. They are cleaner and less sensitive. No more gum problems like before raw. They must be recalcifying themselves.
OMG! I live in Glendale too!

I'm sure raw will help you are getting all the natural healing resources right there in you mouth when you eat. I was told when you eat though to chew your food 25-30x each bite to get all the digestive powers working and getting the mose benefit from all the minerals enzymes etc. It's kinda hard with raw because it's already so juicy but it can be done.
I noticed by the 3-4 week point that I no longer had morning breath or yucky feeling teeth in the mornings, like I had a fresh mouth even before I brushed! Wow, huh?!
(That was a few years ago the first time I went raw. This new year I started again and my teeth are already feeling better)
I recently discovered something new (to me anyway) Oil pulling.....you're supposed to take sunflower or sesame oil and swish/pull and chew it for 20 minutes first thing in the morning before brushing your teeth. It says it pulls toxins out of your body while healing your teeth and gums too.
I started yesterday but using Extra virgin coconut oil instead (some people said they have) so don't really know any results yet but I have receding gums and a couple of placing that the pain goes all the way up into my face so I hope it helps, but read up on it, do a search, it's interesting.....Good Luck!

I am recently back on raw, but when I was raw last time (made it 4 weeks) in that time, my very sensitive teeth were nearly 100% healed of sensitivity (they hurt when chewing hard things like apple skins before raw), and they were much whiter.
I"m looking forward to that again, as going off raw made the sensitivity come back. :(

Hi. I have noticed that the raw foods diet has been keeping my teeth clean and white! I still brush them, of course, but never see any plaque, ever. Eating in cut or food-procesed foods can be hard on your gums and sometimes my gums tingle after eating carrots or apples just from taking bites, but I'm sure you could use a knife and eat pieces that way. Also, be careful not to eat mostly fruit because you can actually get tooth enamel damage from the sugar and acids in the fruit. I have also noticed that people with any kind of inflamation or pain seem to be relieved by the raw foods diet, just by better elimination of the toxins that cause pain. So, at the very least... you won't feel as much tooth pain. :D

I think my gums look more healthy. They look more pink. My teeth aren't so stained either but I am eating more raw foods. Nothings better than whiter teeth. He he he :D

I am with Christi, my teeth haven't gotten plaque since the second day after I started this dietary lifestyle.
Might sound like a little thing... but it's not to me! I really despise getting up in the morning to "nasty mouth." And I don't anymore. :)

I love having a clean feeling mouth straight out of bed in the morning.
I've been wondering if I'm forgetting to brush my teeth in the morning, since I'm waking up with them already seeming clean. :o

I have not tried the oil pulling but the massive amount of dental problems continue--raw or non raw has neve rmade a difference to me...no I have not done COq 10 either so maybe I would be bragging if I tried that.....just tried to keep the mouth healthy, but the dentist has continued seeing me as a great customer. They are not cheap either and sadly a necessity to me. However have saved tons of $ from visiting medical doctors.
I am still interested in learning more as you are never too old to learn!! Keep us posted on the oil pulling too please. Any help here is super appreciated.

I have a canine that used to be chipped and rough at the tip - one day it got more sensitive, and not long afterward it grew back smooth. :)
I get plaque, but it doesn't seem to matter. Apparently my teeth are well enough mineralized that plaque doesn't hurt them. A few years ago I broke a tooth on a potato chip and another tooth broke in the dentist's chair. I think the key food is dulse (lots of minerals).

I grew back a chipped tooth I had since I was a kid. I stopped using toothpaste because it contains glycerin, ate raw, 6 months later my tooth was normal! My family was shocked! :D

Wow! Some great input - thanks so much for giving me hope. :p
I am going to check out that oil pulling info, although I can't imagine spending 20 minutes in the morning doing that...maybe early early morning when I'm up with the little one I could work it in. Please let me know how it goes with you and if I do try it, then I will do the same.
I was told by the dentist that I had a sleeping tooth - It stayed in my "jaw" and had no roots. Therefore I have had a space between two of my teeths since I was 14. I was told it would never come up. And now - only 6 moths after going raw - it's almost fully up - squeezing to fit in between the two other teeth. that's amzing I think. :D

Ps. what's wrong with glycerin?

You know what, getting cavities for the first time was the thing that made me want to cut refined sugar once and for all and so led me to raw foodism.
BUT all sugar will rot your teeth and raw foodists are no less immune to that as in my experience, they eat a lot of fruit. If you teeth are whiter than usual that is NOT a good sign as it might mean the enamel is being decalcified. Eat fruit with water and use a mouthwash several times a day.

Hi
Well, having whiter teeth that are matte and not shiney can be a problem, but if your teeth are getting whiter in general, I think its just from eating cleaner foods and building strong enamel around them.

I've been drinking and using sesame seeds for milk and other veggies high in calcium so do you this the abundance of calcium could help regrowth of teeth?
I've heard of this happening before so has anyone experienced this?

I broke my tooth 15 days ago, its a small fracture (i mean 10% of the whole tooth). Is it possible to make it grow back using a toothpaste without glycerin and fluoride? What more can i do? My dentist has put a fillin of composite resin on my tooth to make it invisible, but ill do everything to make it grow back!
by the way, im not raw yet, but if its necessary i have no problem of becoming raw addict! :)
Thanks for any help!!
