I am having cravings for salt. Will eating too much sea salt on my food harm me? I want to make the potato chips but I do not have a dehydrator. Can I make them in my oven if the temperature goes to 170?

Eat salty vegies: parsley, baby-bok-choy, etc.
Salt is salt. Not good.

Oh,
I haven't given up salt. I use celtic sea salt (it has lots of lovely minerals and healthy things in it). It is not refined, just sun-dried. I get the large crystals and use a salt mill to grind it onto foods. From experience, when I did this (raw food diet) last year, I did notice that my craving for salt did lessen as I went along. I just didn't need as much to get the flavor that I wanted. Maybe I would have eventually gotten to the point where I didn't need it at all. I wouldn't use the oven to dehydrate veggies though, that temp is just too high.

Another thought,
if you want to move away from salt, try using granulated kelp to flavor foods, as it is quite salty (and a little bit of a bite/peppery flavor too). Some people don't like kelp, but it is very good for you. :)

Lovely,

Food needs to be below 114 degrees to stay live, so your oven sounds a little too hot. Salt is not the enemy if you're using *good* salt. Table salt is mined from the earch and leeched of everything, including color, with chemicals. Natural Celtic sea salt is carefully harvested from the ocean and sun dried, retaining valuable and healthy minerals. Anything in excess isn't a good idea, but as you're on raw more and more, you'll crave less and less of the things that you used to eat. And you'll find that a little bit of Celtic sea salt goes a long way; the flavors are amazing!

Unless you have high blood pressure, I wouldn't worry too much about the salt.

To be honest, TOO LITTLE salt can kill you just as easily as TOO MUCH can. Unless you have an imbalance where your blood pressure is high, listen to your body. If it says you need salt, you probably do.

I nearly died from having blood pressure so low that blood couldn't get to my brain to oxygenate it. I never ate salt, because.. you know, salt's BAD! Well, salt is what moves your blood through your veins. Without enough... blood no move.
