What's the difference between a 2 hp blender and a 3 hp blender besides price? Does anyone have a 3 hp blender and can you give reasons as to why you would purchase it as opposed to a 2 hp blender? Does it really make a difference as far as results??? Thanks

The more horses the bigger the motor and the more you will be able to run it without the motor burning out.
I don't know if there is much different between a 3 & 4. I have a Vita-Mix 500 and I am always doing something too wrong and smelling the motor. I just let it cool and start over again. Some blenders would just die.

I know with mine if it struggles for two long it shuts off. Then I have to turn it on again. It doesn't take much for mine to struggle. I can't even mix RP brownies in it without separating everything into 4 parts.I can also smell the blender if it's working too hard.

I would recommend the Vita Mix. It's more expensive, but definitely worth it. And it comes with a 7 year warranty. I use mine 2-3 times a day.

Whoa, for the RP brownies, you should use your mini food processor and NOT a blender! If I recall correctly, you have a Cuisinart Mini-prep? That's what I use. (If you don't have one, Canadian Tire sells them cheap). I don't force my blender to do things it cannot do. My blender is an el-cleapo Osterizer that I got for about $40 and it can ice-crush and blend liquids and smoothies quite beautifully, but stiff doughy things? Forget it.
Just an idea.

I tried but my processor won't move LOL. My blender is the only thing that sorta pushes through the mix lol.. My tools aren't very high end lol.. no wonder they don't work with me :p

Aside from my 9 tray excalibur, which I haven't used in months, my Cuisinart mini prep (which cost me roughly $20 or so) and my el-cheapo Osterizer (the kind you can get at department stores cheap) my stuff is nowhere near "high end".
Look in your Canadian Tire store for a Cuisinart Mini Prep. It's worth it, and for a low end device, it's super!

Oh just the thread I needed. Can somebody advise me on a blender (not so expensive as a vitamix) that will get through nuts well. My blender just won't (as it the nuts just sit there out of the way and nothing happens) but I think it is meant for juice. I have been using the juicer part instead which is time consuming and no good for time effective cleaning. Something I can get hold of in the UK would be good.

hi seinna ,
alot of people say that the leequip blender at around $130 is a solid buy .
and this may help with blending things like nuts = i have a cheap blender that just chops up the nuts right around the blade because it doesnt have enough power to draw everything down into blade . so i start blender then put one hand on top and the other hand underneath the blender and lift it up in front of me , while keeping pressure on the lid with my top hand so lid doesnt fall off , and shake the blender up and down so that all the contents get flung down into the blade and grinded up . its a way to get a cheap blender to do the job .
goodday :)

Thanks for your help. I mean the job certainly can get done but it does involve the dance your describe. Its a moulinex so should do the job but my parents bought it for me when I was going through a juice phase so I think it is designed for smoothies. I think I'll try and get the leequip!
