Yesterday was my 3rd day on my fast and my skin is burning!!! From my face to my ankles. It hurts to rub across it, burns actually. Especially my face. It is also D~R~Y and ashey looking. OOUUCCHH :(
This didn't occur until my 3rd morning upon wakeing (yesterday).
Some answers please :) Let me tell you what my juicing regimen has been thus far...
I have been juicing 3xs a day. 2 of my juices I add a serving of barley max (supergreen food)
I drink about 2-3 qts. of distilled water during the day also.
My juices have consisted of :
Carrot, beet, cucumber, broccoli, and celery.
I have drank the BarleyMax on several ocassions and it has never done this to me before, alone. I never took it w/a juice fast either. I was eating food. Also, I know that the BarleyMax detoxifies you. So could this skin burning be a result of detoxs? If so, why? What is happening?!?

Hi Michelle Allene... it sure sounds like detox. I personally haven't had that experience... maybe someone who has will see this. In the meantime, if you click on the 'Fasting Support' thread... 1st page, 1st post... there are links and a variety of info about detox while fasting.

I need to rename myself the Coconut Queen, but there's nothing that helps dry skin more than blending a tbsp or two of coconut oil into your juices or smoothies every day.

Yeah burning is normal though usually I've heard people get it whilst ahem... in the bathroom... that was (and still to and extent) is my problem.

id think it maybe has to do with the fact youre not getting any good fats whatsoever on your fast and its winter and dry/cold as-is..and the chlorine being added to the water supply, even with filters, contributes to even worse dry/itchy skin conditions. maybe apply coconut oil topically if you dont want to add it to your juices? or shea butter..that personally works better for me, topically. cocoa butter, too. or olive oil.

I have been reading that you should NOT add any oil to your juices when fasting, because it will slow down and or stop detox. With that said, I will not add coconut oil to my juices. Besides, it is day 5 now and the burning is gone.

You get the strangest things happen when your body is in the process of detoxing. Last weekend, during my first ever fast, my right eye swelled up. It looked as if I'd been punched in the eye! The skin on both my arms broke out in little, non-itchy, ultra red bumps that resembled mosquitoe bites. My legs and my arms (moreso my legs) ached something aweful, my skin was dry to the extent that it began to peel  , and my tongue had a mild burning sensation to it. I'm 4 hours into my second fast this weekend, and I look forward to seeing how detox manifests itself this time as I purify myself, and make my body a more fitting place in which God may reside

Hello
For these skin issues, try a nice warm bath with some baking soda & oatmeal. Not only does it relieve skin itchiness, dryness, tenderness, it also helps with the detox.

If that doesn't work, you might try taking ONE item out of your mixture each day and see if you notice a difference. It could be an allergy.

Once you add fats to your juice, you are no longer in fasting mode. Fats require digestion which inturn slows down the healing process.
Fact, skin is the largest detox organ and the most obvious when detoxing. You can ease your detox by making your juice recipes more simple. Burning sensations, sounds like blood toxicity that is causing "heat" in your body. You can offset it with plain cucmber juice. Simple lemon water, celery.
But then again, it can also be attributable to what your health condition was prior. Everyone detoxs differently. The worst thing is to come off of it and eat bad. Generally speaking, day 5 is when the body is 80% toxins. Add sking brushing to your program and some nice detox bath.
