I got this from Freshtopia.net. Tanja shows how to make this amazing sounding soup. I'm going to try it this weekend. Was thinking how great it would be with a raw grilled cheeze sandwich. :)
Simple Tomato Soup:
2cups cherry or heirloom tomatoes
2cups sun-dried tomatoes (soaked) reserve 1/2cup for the sauce
1/2cup raw cashews (soaked)
1/2cup olive oil
1cup tomato soak water
small clove garlic
1/4cup shallot (chopped)
sea salt and pepper to taste
Throw it all in a blender!
Then....
Smokin' Hott Tomato sauce
1/2cup sun-dried tomatoes (soaked)
1/2cup olive oil
1Tablespoon chili flakes
1Tablespoon honey or agave syrup
1teaspoon smoked sea salt
filtered water or tomato soak water to thin
2Tablespoons chives (chopped) to garnish
Put this in a mini food processor or blender and drizzle over the top of the soup. Garnish with chives. YUM :D

please let me know how it is!
Oh... that does sound good. How do you make a raw grilled cheese sandwich? That was my FAVORITE FAVORITE SAD food. I know you can't compare raw to SAD but I'd still give it a shot...

I had this today (with some modifications), and it was delicious! Thanks for posting the recipe!
Ama, I would imagine that the onion bread or the almond bread recipes floating around here with either Alissa's cheeze or sliced avo would sub really well for grilled cheese sandwiches. Having had the soup, I can imagine that the almond bread with avo would be heavenly dipped into it.
This used to .... way back in the day ... be one of my SAD faves as well. I ate tomato soup and grilled cheese almost every day for lunch during the four years I went to high school.
Thanks peachy... I am actually going to make a batch of the almond bread tonight (I just finished my onion bread *sobbing*).
I was wondering if anyone dehydrated cheese into slices like Alissa has in her book (I think it was swiss... don't remember though). Or... do you think it would be better to just make a cheeze spread?
I just went to freshtopia.net and looked at some of those recipes. I love the sound of the chocolate curry pudding. I'll have to try that one when I get my hands on another coconut. I love the videos... Tanja is too funny!

...it was really good. My only complaint was that it was REALLY thick, so I had to add alot of water. Then it got a little bland.
I added some corn and finely chopped cucumber to it before serving. It gave it some crunch. The stuff you drizzle on top became very thick, too, so I just plopped a big blob of it on top. Still very tasty!
I would recommend that if you like tomatoes, give this a try. BTW, I used grape tomatoes and they worked fine.

Yeah, the Mediterranean Almond bread would be great bread for grilled cheese, and any of Alissa's raw cheeses. With tomatoes and avocado--yum!!!

Good to know... I really prefer my soups THICK. Whenever it says 2-3 cups of water, I start with 1 and usually don't end up adding any more. I also tend to put munchies in the soup. That's a great idea. I think the corn sounds wonderful. Will have to try that. The videos are great, go to the site and check some out. They show that the soup is VERY thick.. mmm mmmm mmmmmmm! Will be heading to the store shortly to pick up some tomatoes!

Ama, I'm the same way. I'm thinking a bowl of this soup, very lightly warmed in the dehydrator, with a grilled cheese sandwich (raw, of course!) would hit the spot on a cold winter day. Just like mom used to make, without all the SADness! :)
I JUST made this for dinner and it was AMAZING. I will DEFINITELY be making this again.... and again.... and again! Here's what I did:
Simple Tomato Soup:
2cups cherry or heirloom tomatoes (I used 2 vine ripe tomatoes)
2cups sun-dried tomatoes (soaked) reserve 1/2cup for the sauce
1/2cup raw cashews (soaked)
1/2cup olive oil (1/4 C)
1cup tomato soak water
small clove garlic
1/4cup shallot (chopped) (I used sweet onion)
sea salt and pepper to taste
Throw it all in a blender!
Then....
Smokin' Hott Tomato sauce
1/2cup sun-dried tomatoes (soaked)
1/2cup olive oil (1/4... maybe even less, I used more soak water than oil)
1Tablespoon chili flakes (I used 1 1/2 t chili powder)
1Tablespoon honey or agave syrup
1teaspoon smoked sea salt (regular sea salt)
filtered water or tomato soak water to thin
2Tablespoons chives (chopped) to garnish
Put this in a mini food processor or blender and drizzle over the top of the soup. Garnish with chives. YUM
