I started 100% raw on Saturday, have stayed at 100% with no problems, and I've already lost 4 pounds and went down a pants size. Now, I know that water weight comes off first, but I've been in an intensive bootcamp for the past 3 months, so I was already working out and eating relatively healthy. My eyes are clearer already, my skin is smoother, and my nail tips have turned solid white (they have always been clear and fragile). Also, I need much less sleep, have tons of energy, and have suddenly cleaned out my whole apartment of superfluous junk and given it away. Amazing how going raw inspires you to clear out so many other aspects of your life!

Yay, raw!!!

Wow, RawVee, you make me feel terrible! ;) Very happy for you, though!!

I've been raw for three weeks and have noticed practically no benefits yet! I can't imagine having the kind of results you have in just a few days. I don't feel more energy, have lost very little weight, skin and eyes are no different, etc. etc. I keep wondering what I'm missing??!!

Coonlie, are you drinking lots of water? And what exactly are you eating? I've been really careful with food combining. I don't eat late at night and I only eat fruit for breakfast. Are you exercising? Keep it up!!! Everyone's body is different.

Btw, I love raccoons. Your avatar is adorable. :)

Exercising some, but not enough, I know. Drinking lots of water - as much as a gallon a day some days, then less other days. I have done nothing with food combining. I've never been able to figure that out. The chart in Alissa's book leaves me totally confused. Is there a simple explanation/plan that you follow?

Thanks for the comment on my avatar. My husband and I are raccoon fans, too. When we were first engaged, he told me once that my face was as cute as a little raccoon! :D At first I didn't know if I should feel complimented or not, but I've come to love them, too.

I just follow Alissa's chart and guidelines, but mainly, I keep nuts and fruits separate. Also, keeping a food journal is REALLY helpful, because you can figure out what's making you feel bloated, etc. My advice would be to cut back on fats if you're eating a lot of nuts or oils. And exercise always helps. I do cardio and weight lifting. So that combined with eating raw has just jacked my metabolism up, I guess.

When I was little, my grandmother had raccoons come to her house at night. I'd feed them by hand, even the tiny little babies. We had a big pan of water for them to dip bread into. They're smart animals, and adorable, so your husband gave you quite a compliment. :)

I find it interesting that only 3 days into 100% raw my face is clear and the redness is gone (struggled with it for YEARS), bags under my eyes dissappear, extra fluid is gone, etc....to me I look like TRACEY! I look like who I know I am on the inside. When I eat cooked all the other things return and I feel horrible/look bad.

Indeed RawVee, indeed! The people the ancient Greeks referred to as 'Egyptians' had a saying 'As it is above, so it is below'. This was in reference to the many similarities that they noted between the workings of the atomic world (consisting of electrons, neutrons, and protons etc) and that of the greater universe all around us (with the movements and chemical properties of the planets, suns etc). They knew that this universe operates on the principles of balance, between the 'macro' and the 'micro'. Anyway, as part of that balanced universe, and moreover, as one who has now taken to eating only raw food (which brings us into closer alignment with universal principles, processes, and rhythms), you now desire your larger external environment to be an outer reflection of, and testament to, the internal changes that are taking place within you. 'As it is on the inside, so it must be on the outside' :) I truly believe that eating raw is the answer to the world's problems. If everyone ate exclusively raw food, War and Greed would become, practically, things of the past :(

Coonlie - I think it all depends on where you are coming from.

I don't know everyone's previous diet, but a lot of the time, it seems like those who were already eating on the better side, go to raw and don't see as much of a difference than those who switch to raw from a very processed, cooked diet.

I could be off, but that is my personal experience, and how it appears to have worked with others.

Coonlie - I agree with what the others have said. DON'T compare yourself to anyone. You are an individual.
Are you drinking green smoothies? I really noticed a difference once I replaced a meal a day with them! You'll get there. Don't give up. Keep on be raw!!!

RawVee - that is so very cool! You must be so very proud of yourself! Congratulations! It only gets better and better. :D

Thanks Nectarine and VeganforLife!

Nectarine, funny you mention that as above so below. I've always felt that, too. And just today my friend and I were talking about the fact that if everyone ate raw, the mental health, balance and stability of us all would shift.

Thanks for your support!

Thanks for your encouragement, Sharon. With the exception of too much sugar, I did eat a mainly healthful diet before, but I do have a lot of weight to lose. I will keep with it because I believe it will make a difference! After doing more reading today, I think I've been eating too many fats and not enough greens. I have been having green smoothies, but not every day. I like them so will try to make it a daily thing and also, eat less nuts and desserts. I've been having salads most days, but maybe snacking too much on crackers, nuts and desserts. I'll see what happens in another week with those changes in my eating plan.

Yay! I'm glad you were healthy to begin with and that this whole thing happened so quickly. I just finished 14 days on 100% raw, and still don't have energy, lost but then gained weight, and still can't smell very well. Oh well. I am trying very hard to stick it out the full 30 days. Its cool to hear your story. I think my body needs a lot of healing because, even though I used to be really healthy, we were also poor and had to eat roman noodles and oatmeal and rice almost every day, and when i grew up I had babies and became depressed and drank a lot. Ha! Well, I do feal healthier already.

Hahaha... I love my babies, thats not why I got depressed and drank! Oh My...
