View Full Version : New and "Rawr"ing to go!

Good afternoon, everyone (depending on where you are).
I've been reading and learning about raw foods off and on for about 4 months now, and I'm done reading. I'm ready to start living raw.
Right now I'm eating raw for breakfast and lunch, and then having about 50 to 100% raw dinner. I think I'm going to go for 100% for February.
I have a pretty crappy blender, and I don't have a dehydrator yet. My hang up on buying anything is I'm moving out of the country in about 6 months, and I don't want to buy it just to sell it right away. (That's your cue to talk me into buying the tools I need to be successful)
I look forward to being a member of this community. Thanks for all the information you've shared already (before I ever joined). I'll keep you updated on my journey!

Welcome! To start eating raw, just dig right in! I still have my less-than $50 blender, and my mini-cuisinart. The only expensive thing I have is a 9 tray excalibur that I now rarely use due to enjoying the fresh stuff so much more!
You'll find all kinds of ideas for delish recipes and meals and I hope you enjoy your stay here!

You did not say where you are moving to. You can be raw anywhere you want to be.

A Sharp Knife will do and use your blender until it gives up. You don't have to dehydrate, you can chop, blend and eat food in its own Natural Fresh Wrappers.
You are already doing so Well, just keep doing what you are doing. READ ALL you CAN about RAW. Stay Tuned to this Forum, ask questions before you get into trouble.
Make new Recipes and share them with your NEW Family.....
I wish you everything you need to Stay RAW......Welcome to MY World.....

Thanks for the welcome.
I'm moving to Scotland from the US, so I'm not planning on taking my small appliances with me -- I want to hold off on getting anything until I'm there. I'll stay raw while I'm there (optimistic that I'll be raw in 6 months).

Your post made me ashamed: I'm already panicking about how I'm going to take my juicer, sprouter and the dehydrator and hemp milk-maker my sister donated to me to university in October, lol! I'm ridiculous. I'm only moving a few hundred miles and then I'll be back home when it isn't term-time! I'm sure I'd be much happier if I stopped worrying 'maybe I'll starve to death without them...' because what everyone is saying is right: nature provides great food just as it is (though the kitchen appliances can make it more fun). The only thing I would say is <please> bring raw food spirit with you! It's a lot harder to get hold of raw foods over here than it is in the US, though there seem to be a few good haunts in London, Brighton and the South West especially (one of the reasons I'm planning to go to uni in Bristol, where there's a vegan festival in June, lol).
Good luck with your move & the rawness :o)
Love, Helen x
