Hi, I have a Vitamix 5000 which I just got and I tried to make some raw cashew butter but wasn't sure about adding the 3 tbs oil their recipe called for so I added MAYBE 1 tbs of olive oil and a tsp of raw honey and it came out too thich but the taste was awesome. It was kind of the consistency where you could shape it or roll it into a ball and eat it :) although it was a little dry. Anyone have any ideas for making either raw or other cashew butter in a vitamix? Is the nutrition different whether or not the cashews are raw? We are going to be getting a Omega 8005 hopefully soon so if anyone has advice on doing it in there as well that would be great! THANKS A MILLION!

Hello,

I think you need a copy of Alissa's book " Living on Live Food" she'll answer your question about whether raw makes a difference or not very well.
It's a raw vegan board, so you won't get much help in making non-raw cashew butter.
I could tell you about my personal experience of adding more raw to the diet, but the best way to know is to try it for yourself.
And true not all cashews are raw, but sometimes the ones from the grocery store will sprout. Give it a go, if they sprout, they are raw.
Carla ;)
