Hi everyone!!! I browse more than post but I thought I could ask for some suggestions since you are all such wonderful chefs...
Laurennn and myself are getting together to prepare a bunch of foods for a gathering this weekend. The theme is TROPICAL STYLE and we know we're going to have a bunch of fresh fruits to say the least.
My dehydrator is arriving this week!!! We have a blender, juicer, food processor, mandolin, spiral slicer, you name it.
I AM allergic to: nuts so we are steering clear of that (besides raw pecans in moderation), soy (no nama shoyu for me), and sesame...I also do not consume honey. Allergies are a pain but I deal fine! :)
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! We have a few in mind already. I'm going to make some enchiladas, raw virgin daiquiris, fruit salads, vegetables salads.... I can have all kinds of other seeds though! Flax, hemp, pumpkin, you name it.
We appreciate this greatly!!
I'll be exploring the boards for ideas....

Well,
I would say samosas, using coconut wraps
orange/pineapple/mango smoothie-- super yummy
banana ice cream, with maybe a pineapple sauce, I'd make it out of fresh pineapple and golden raisins, or dried apricots, maybe add some grated coconut on top
coconut macaroons, it's just dried coconut, and dates and orange juice, then dehydrate
how about spring rolls
cabbage leaf
put inside:
mushrooms
bean sprouts
julienne carrots
snow peas
and dip in
orange ginger sauce
orange juice
grated ginger (tons)
cayenne pepper
these are my "off the top of my head suggestions"
hope one or more work for you

You are wonderful! Thanks so much. I absolutely cannot wait to try these out.
I just made an excellent banana "pudding" last night by the way- using bananas, dates, cacao power, pinch of agave, and coconut :)
I haven't tried OJ in my macaroons yet but I'll try that sometime too!

I often use fresh OJ instead of water in recipes, it adds some sweetness, a little stickiness and always enhances the flavor, I am also adding a dash of cayenne to alot of things, as I don't use salt much anymore, but cayenne is a natural flavor enhancer, it certainly spices up most things, to explode in my mouth, yummy!

I loove strawberry and pineapple kabobs. Use a whole Pinapple and stick a few kabobs in as presentation... Makes a beautiful centerpiece too.
Have fun!

Maybe a pie w/ coconuts & dates as crust... a coconut filling topped with pineapples and mango?
I'm trying to think of a good pie...

How do you make this ORANGE GINGER SAUCE YOU SPEAK OF???
I love kabobs made of bell peppers (red and orange), mushrooms, and onions marinated in nama shoya, a little olive oil, pineapple juice, agave, and ginger. After marinated put on skewers with pineapple chunks between the veggies. Dehydrate for a couple of hours. Yummy!! Wish I was coming to your party :D
Tropical Lime Pie - do a search - I posted it earlier in the recipe section. The crust is made out of coconut. You mainly need avacodos, limes, bananas & coconut. Also I would use coconut shells as cups to drink your fresh juice out of.

My dehydrator hasn't come in the mail yet! But it was sent out MONDAY in priority mail. (I didn't order it from this site, but another...)
I am seriously bummed. Because I wanted to practice making things before my guests come on Saturday. If it doesn't come tomorrow (Fri), I'll have to change things on the menu since I would need to start dehydrating some things tomorrow night...
Looks like I'll be needing more NON-DEHYDRATED ideas!
Thanks a bunch! :(
