And where do you buy them at?
I admit, this is one item that I'm completely flabbergasted by.
Alot of recipes call for them, but the only ones I've ever seen are processed, jarred/canned items.

What does everyone use, and what store carries them?

Thanks!

I ...
1) make my own in the dehydrator in the summer when they taste the best

or

2) I buy them at Trader Joe's. Watch, though, some of then contain sulfites. Read the back of the package first.

I get them in bulk at the local co-op, Harvest.

If you can't find them anywhere (like I can't find saurkraut), you can usually find stuff easily online!

I make my own, I know for certain, they are raw, they were fresh when dehydrated and they were dehydrated at a low temp, so I just make my own, about 10 jars each summer

but until you can do that

you can buy boxes of tomatoes and do it, or you can buy them at specialty or health food stores, make sure no sulfates, and low temp dehydration

don't buy dried tomatoes, those won't have the spices you want

sun dried tomatoes have garlic, oregano and basil in them, yummy!

I make my own usually. I have only found one brand that doesn't have preservatives in it and uses cold pressed olive oil, but for the life of me I cannot remember the brand. It came from italy and was organic, that's all I can think of.

We wait till we can get boxes of tomatoes at ridiculous prices just as the market closes and spend the next couple of days dehydrating the lot ( I only have a little round dehydrator).

Happy dehydrating with the excalibur!
